Wedding Woes

Woo! It's Friday!

Yesterday was a long one. I took a long lunch to get the kiddo and take him to the doctor because he's been fighting off the ick all week.  He has a sinus infection.  He finally started coughing crap up this morning, so I think it's coming loose and he can start feeling better.

I got off work and went to the store.  I came home to make homemade pizza and realized I didn't have cheese.  So back to the store...again.  DH also had to go back to work and file an incident report because one of his employees stepped on a board with nail in it and it went through her foot (cue internal clenching at the thought). I burned the shit out of my finger while cooking and now I have a huge blister.

I'm pms-ing, so everything seems harder than it is. I ranted a bit at DH about how I'm tired of being over-scheduled and it came out more as, "We spend too much time with your parents."  (which is not an untrue statement, but I wasn't nice about it.)

We're supposed to go to Cincy this weekend to see BIL/SIL.  We haven't seen their new place. Luckily, it's just one night.  And I think it will be fun.  I want to go to IKEA with SIL.

What's up with you?

We haven't scheduled a lot this weekend, trying to take it easy because we'll be at the beach next weekend.  Too many busy weekends make the kids (and us) a little nuts.

Wooz and I are going for pedicures tomorrow a.m. as part of our beach prep.  I'll take the kids to the pool at some point.  DH is going to tackle seafood Sunday night.  I'll probably start packing.  Minor house projects.

I have next Thursday all figured out:  I'm not telling Wooz I'm taking her to the amusement park, I'm going to surprise her with it.  We'll hit the park until 2:30 or so, go straight to DS's open house at school, take him with us to her meet the teacher thing, and then go home and crash before we leave for the beach the next day.

Oh, and s/o Wooz, a yellow jacket stung her in the ring finger at camp yesterday.  Fuckers.  She was all excited to tell me when I picked her up, and then 20 minutes later (?) one of the counselors called me to tell me what happened and said Wooz was really upset.  (Not sure why they bothered at that point, since I'd already heard Wooz's play by play twice, but w/e.)  She was laughing about it, so I asked if she was upset when it happened and she answered, all nonchalant:  "Oh, yeah, I screamed a lot.  I mean, A LOT."
  • I have been trying to get in touch with our roofer for 2.5 months.  He did a repair and guaranteed the work for a year and it started leaking again.  After a nasty/threatening voicemail from DH, he is supposed to be here at 9:30 this morning.

When he's done, I'm heading to Target alone.  I haven't been alone for a few days and I need some space.
  • It's my working Friday so boo for that. I have to pull together the rest of a powerpoint to review with my boss on Monday, and I'm troubleshooting some issues that were caused by sheer stupidity on the part of colleagues, so at least I'll be busy today. We're planning to grill and swim tonight, so I might try to go to Costco at lunch as see if they have anything that looks good. I'm going to try to teach Wolverine how to use her snorkel so we can maybe go in the Bahamas in Feb.

This weekend (Saturday at least) is going to be crazy  we have 2 birthday parties to attend almost back to back, at 2 different play places (Peter Piper Pizza and Monkey Bizness.) Wolverine is probably going to crash hard in the afternoon.

    Sunday - recovery day/chores.

We're planning a few days at the beach for next weekend if the weather stays nice. I can cancel the hotel until Thursday, so hopefully the weather holds out and it's not crazy busy. We could technically do it as a day trip, but it's about 3-4 hours of driving (total for the round trip) so it can end up feeling like a lot in one day.
  • Oh, and my mom and brother leave for the Disney trip we opted out of tomorrow.  I am happy for them, but also relieved that we're not going.  I still think there's a good chance that my brother is going to propose to his GF during the trip, so I'll be keeping an eye out for that.  (Little squee.)

I was supposed to meet a friend at the splash pad but after 2 days of kindergarten her kid is sick.  I'm still taking mine and hoping it doesn't end in head glue like last time.

I pretty much have 6lets party planned and bought for (it's not for a month, but I've hit serious sales).  I'm actually doing a few little games this year so we'll see how that goes.  I also snagged a bunch of things for preschool party gifts/toy drives.

Tomorrow is 6let's first soccer practice.  I told DH I'd take everyone to give him the day to do his stuff, but he wants to meet the coach so, whatever.  I'm having a couple girlfriends over for deck drinks.  I keep saying it's casual, but I've made salsa and plan to do a little app with my homemade jam and also flatbread pizzas. Oops

I found a couch I loved at Costco. Showed DH and he was sort of on board.  I mentioned a few days later that if we wanted it we needed to go get it.  He never answered so I figured he didn't like it or was doing the typical foot dragging until it was sold out and he didn't have to tell me no.  Yesterday I went back and of course it's gone.  I sent a text to tell him.  Long story short I was pissed and he fessed up that he's having a lot of trouble concentrating.  I don't know how to help him.
