Man, I didn't realize how off I'd felt since last week until I woke this morning and felt like my normal self.  IDK why I was in such a funk, but I'm glad that's over. 

In other news, the kiddo and DH saw a mouse in the kitchen yesterday.  Nothing will get your ass in gear to make your kitchen sparkle like an unwanted critter.  We had traps and he has since been eradicated.  DH left a cute note to the kids and me this morning about how our unwanted visitor is gone. 

In other-other news, local scandal Jared Fuckface Fogle is going to plead guilty to something related to child porn.  His wife is the friend of a friend.  I feel awful for her and their kids.

Ugh.  Just ugh.  So gross. 

It's been a rough couple of days.  DS's fever came back Monday afternoon, followed by a coupy cough that night.  So neither of us slept much.  Kept him home yesterday and Wooz wanted to stay home too.  DS seemed much better, so I attempted a Costco run and went down in flames.  (I should have skipped it, but he really seemed fine, and I was supposed to hit Costco yesterday and Target today to get ready for our beach trip and back to school.)  I ended up walking out with two crying kids and zero things from my list.  (Wooz found socks she wanted, and when DS started melting down and I said we were leaving, she cried that I "promised" her socks.) 

The afternoon was quiet, thankfully.  DS hardly napped and I was exhausted, but we got through it.  DS's fever was gone, he slept well, but we got up this a.m. and he was back up to 101.  I rag on DH sometimes, but he was awesome.  I have a presentation this a.m. that I couldn't miss, so DH called the backup care people and is staying with DS 'til they arrive.  He even offered to drop Wooz at camp, but she's on my way and I didn't want him to have to drag DS out, so I took her.  Now I'm just waiting for my turn to present.  And my throat is starting to tickle, and my nose is starting to sniffle.  I hope it's allergies.

If I can just make it through the day, Wooz and I have our Carowinds trip tomorrow, and both kids' school meet and greets, and then we're off to the beach.  I really hope I'm not sick for the beach.  I really hope this is just allergies.

We got so much done in the yard yesterday.  We still have more to do but it just looks so much better.  Now we have all this brush to get rid of.  I remember alikatt saying they posted an ad on CL to have someone haul theirs away.  I'm thinking that's what we'll do.

We were sweating our butts off outside yesterday and then it stormed like crazy last night and it's 59* this morning.  Extreme change in weather = sick taw.  It's only a matter of time.

@heffalump, that sounds like what happened to us leading up to our trip to OBX.  Everyone rallied and we made it, but it was sketchy for a minute.  Sending you all the ::vibes::. 

(However, this did not stop the kiddo from getting sick on vacation.  But I think that had to do with nerves related to starting HS and he was working himself up.  And then he got food poisoning the last full day of our trip. And DH got sick on the way home.  The only people in my house who've managed to stay consistently healthy are DefConn and me.  The other two are soft, heh.)

Morning!

I got home last night with my drugged out dogs (they had their teeth cleaned) and H exclaimed that since he's been busy and gone the last few weeks he wanted to take me out for dinner.  My choice, as a sort of Bday dinner (2 weeks late...totally cool actually), so we did just that.

His shop project is coming to a close and he's happy with the progress.  We talked a lot about how this last year has really kind of sucked, most the the first half of the 12 months. 

He also agreed to a trip, so I'll be scouring anything within a 4 hour range...wheee!

So backup care was a bust and my presentation is done, and our new plan is for me to jet home in a little while so DH can make some afternoon meetings that he can't miss.  He said DS seems fine but is sleeping now, which is unusual for him.  I'm hoping he gets lots of rest today and is good as new tomorrow.

(Also, I know this is selfish, but I hope he can go to DC tomorrow b/c that's my day with Wooz.  Luckily, she doesn't know it because it was going to be a surprise.  So at least if we have to cancel, she won't know she's missing anything.  But I will know.)

I thought yesterday was Wednesday so I'm a little sad. 

DH was supposed to fire somebody Friday, but the guy gave his two weeks notice yesterday.  So DH brought home a bottle of champagne.  He drank 1 glass and I drank the rest.  Oops.  Max woke up crying for no reason at 5:15.  Ugh

I saved $61 on my shopping trip today plus I have several dollars pending in Ibotta rebates.  I got 2 paychecks and an Ebates check so I feel like I'm swimming in money.

It's supposed to be hot then storm at 2ish today. We're having an early lunch then trying to sneak in a swim.

The great purge is still going on.  I even got DH to shred a bunch of crap yesterday.  3 more bags of trash, a lot of b/s/t and donation.

I don't know why, but my insomnia has decided to show up again and it's fierce and full on.  I've had about...five hours of solid sleep in the last 3 days.  I'm not used to dealing with this anymore (I thought I had it defeated around 3 years ago) and I'm basically streamlining coffee to make it through work.  I'm hoping it's just that ragweed is high and maybe that's throwing something off.

I have been bombarded with MLMs.  My first thought for Varuna was "I bet there's an oil for that."  FTR- I don't do oils.

This has been me! I think it's being cooped up at home all day (still can't drive since my wreck in April) and scrambling to get wedding crap finished (43 days to go). FI really pissed me off on Monday which didn't help, so yesterday morning I told him I needed to get the Hell out of here for a day. He's off on Tuesdays so we decided to take a mini road trip. Went to a nearby college town a little over an hour away. Met up with a friend there for dinner and drinks and then stayed in a cool B&B. He called in "late" to work today so we could take our time getting back. I feel MUCH better today. Sometimes a change of scenery is all you need

Yeah that Jared guy is nasty. It sucks that he has a wife & kids.

one of my local friends (K) had a party for the oils. i flat out told her i wasn't coming to listen to some sort of pseudoscience presentation. another one of my friends (C) felt bad and went, and ended up buying a bunch of the oils because the saleswoman had some sort of sob story and C felt bad for her. 

C gave me crap (joking around) about not going and was like, "oh yeah, you'll be jealous when these oils 'cure' all of my issues." Apparently C was allergic to something in the oils and ended up spending some time in urgent care and took steriods for a week to try and counteract the allergic reaction. She was miserable.
