Wedding Planning Help!

There is so much to try to remember when planning this wedding, it's insane! I was wondering if anyone could tell me of any expereiences of things they missed? Or that you would do differently if you could do it again?? I always hear of small details that end up being wicked important after the fact.

I thought I had thought of everything but I totally didn't plan for the "after the wedding" optional stuff such as preserving my bouquet and gown. I would have done that before I Ieft on my honeymoon instead of coming home to a shrivelled bouquet and dirty gown.

Also, I agree on getting the paper goods done early. I waited until the last minute to do that stuff so it was stressful.

Try to make decisons about things and then move on. I must have looked at thousands of wedding invitations and floral photos when I should have been doing other stuff. It depends on how much time you have.. we only had about 8 months.

You have to be organized and everything should be written down somewhere.

Ask for help, you can't do this on your own, even the biggest control freak needs help. When people offer to help you, find something for them to do.

Working with vendors is tough. Be firm in what you want. Negotiate. Get things in writing. Read your contracts carefully, especially those about deposits. I ended up switching venues, florists, and coordinators and did lose a little bit of money but not that much. Make sure you are 90% + happy with a vendor or don't choose them. Go with your gut.

Have FUN, remember what the day is all about. It will get tough but hang on. it's worth it! Good luck!
