How often do you talk to your S/O while they are at work/Away?

Re: How often do you talk to your S/O while they are at work/Away?

  • My H and I are long distance, so we usually do the "good morning, have a great day" text every morning. His job keeps him super swamped during the day though, so that's usually all i hear from him until after work. I have an hour commute, so I will usually call him during that time.
  • My husband has a job that allows him plenty of time to talk, text, or message at pretty much any time. I can't do much of that at my job. During the summer or on weekends, though, we chitchat quite a bit during the day. We talk or FaceTime every night regardless, though.
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

@jenandtonic81515, I'm glad to hear I'm not the only LD relationship here!  It's only 3 hours (Indiana and Illinois) but so far we have no intention of moving into one house.  Everyone (and i mean everyone) has asked us who's moving to where?  Neither of us want to quit our jobs, so for now, after we're married, we're going to still be long distance.  How far apart are you and H?

  • H and I are both working from home today. This is a very unusual occurrence. I think we may have sex during lunch break if everything goes according to my plans. <3<3<3

Sorry/not sorry for the TMI everyone!
  • My SO and I work opposite schedules. I work from 8am-5pm and he works from 9pm-6am. While I am at work he is asleep and we are usually home with each other for 1-2 hours before he has to leave for work. While he is at work he is usually able to text me until I fall asleep. I can't wait until he has a day schedule, going to bed alone during the week sucks.

  • Never.  My DH worked at a government facility where communication was closely monitored, and cell phones were forbidden.  I could call for an emergency, but chit chat calls were not appreciated.  I called him on 9/11 to tell him what was happening.

  • Not really at all unless we need something, are figuring out plans, or whatever. We both work normal "9-5" type jobs, so we're home together in the evenings.

Sometimes we'll call each other on our way home from work if one of us is stopping by the store to see if the other wants anything.

Same for H and I, though he feels the need sometimes to text me every minute detail of his day, and every meeting he has, what he's eating for lunch and it's a little much.

If one of us is out of town for work, we usually call and talk in the evening for awhile. We'll also usually call or text when flights are arriving or leaving.

ETA: ok a regular work day, not at all during my work. I work 10am-6pm, he works anywhere from 1-4pm to 10am-2pm. After work, I'll sometimes call to ask if he needs dinner, or I'll just run by the shop (he's by himself after 7 or so) and see him at 9 or 10. He really likes it when I drop by.

I wish he'd call or text more often. Work usually takes longer than he estimates, so if he'll be gone several hours longer than anticipated, I wish he'd let me know so I wouldn't wait up for him. But, there's bad cell signal in the shop, and he usually won't take the time to step outside.
