Finally Friday!

This week went by wayyyy toooooo slowlyyyyy. But it's almost over and the weekend is nearly here! WOO HOO!

image

last night, H and I ended up getting hoagies from Wawa for dinner, then I had my own little fashion show because my StitchFix arrived, and then I watched Big Brother while enjoying a glass of wine.

I have nothing going on tonight. Hopefully I'll finish reading The Scorch Trials and dinner will either be takeout or burgers.

Tomorrow, my plan was to work on my closet and start for-real packing but my SIL asked if I could watch my nephew so I might be doing that instead. I'll find out for sure later today. I'm not a huge fan of most kids but I love my nephew so much and he's a really easy baby (he's 1) so I'm actually looking forward to it :)

Sunday, H and I are meeting my mom to give her Lucy since she's puppysitting while we're away and then we're heading to the aforementioned nephew's birthday party. I don't think any of H's family will be there so it'll be us and a bunch of strangers basically. I'm hoping we don't have to stay for the whole thing. The rest of the day will consist of packing, unpacking, and packing again (I refuse to overpack this time!) and then Big Brother at 8 and I'm interested to watch Fear the Walking Dead at 9.

Should be a good weekend!

Re: Finally Friday!

  • ALSO. I made the absolutely horrible decision to wear flip flops today. Why is that horrible? Because flip flops should NOT be worn on a humid morning when you have to walk almost a mile. The pads of my feet are burning and I'm 99.9999% they will be turning into straight up giant ass blisters. I can already feel the squishiness.

  • @jenjen047- OH man! I hate frazzled mornings like that. And drenched in sweat ones too (that was also me this morning). That's great about the $50 voucher though! I think I missed this before, are you going to Raleigh for work or fun?

  • Morning and happy Friday!

@swazzle always have comfy shoes in your bag!!!!!

@jenjen047 Ugh at least you got a $50 voucher

So my car should be done today.  New spark plugs, new coil pack, new ball joint, and finally got the weather strip fixed = just under $400.  Not bad considering I thought I'd need to replace the catalytic converter or something.

Not sure what's going on this weekend, probably more unpacking and organizing the house.

  • @minskat30 - The last time we went, I packed dresses and heels and all kinds of fancy shit that I figured I'd wear since we were on our HM. In reality, I wore pants and Toms basically everyday! I'm not making that mistake again hahaha

Have you always been a good worker-outer? Every single day when I'm sitting at work I think "I need to go home and do some kind of activity." And then I get home and it doesn't happen. And I really want to break out of this cycle. I'm thinking of joining our community center (I said this alllll the way back when we first moved into our house/new town and didn't) when we get back from vacation.

  • @jenjen047 - That sounds like A BLAST! Make sure you take pics to share with us! And to answer your previous question, my commute is actually great! It's actually a lot less stressful than my drive was because I don't ever have to worry about traffic or scary ass tractor trailers trying to kill me. I typically listen to the Undisclosed podcast while I'm walking and then switch to a book on the trains :)

@speakeasy14 - I usually walk in Toms or Ballasox and I just rushed out the door this morning because I knew I was cutting it close on time. I wasn't thinking! I've learned my lesson :(

@swazzle - Ha!  Yup to the reality of coming home and only needing to wash the clothes I brought on vacation...not because I wore them, nope, because my swimsuit got it wet.  As to working out?  I'm, ironically, less motivated the more I weigh but now that I've lost some weight I feel a lot more motivated.  I used to be an every day worker-outer and I'm trying to get back to that.  Three days a week during the work week are easy because H has the car and is commuting home from Chicago so I get longer workouts in those days while I wait for him to pick me up at 7 pm.  I have a work workout buddy for at least one class a week during the lunch hour too so that helps.  Sunday I do nothing and one day during the week I usually am tired and do nothing.  I figure 5 days a week ain't too shabby, right?  ;)
  • IT'S FRIDAY.  Thank God.  I am here for 3 hours today.

This weekend should be really nice.  Today we have an appointment with our financial advisor, and then I plan on getting a mani/pedi, going grocery shopping, doing PiYo, and cooking.  I am making ST's Shrimp Ceviche over arugula.  It looks fabulous.

Tomorrow morning I'm going to the farmer's market early with my mom.  That evening we are having my birthday dinner.  Italian food + lemon/buttercream cake.  YUM.  I need to fit in a good run so I can have all the cake my little heart desires.
  • @minskat30 - 5 days a week is awesome! It's 5 days a week more than I work out. I wish I had a work out buddy because I think that would be all the motivation I need to get my butt in gear.

@Swazzle I agree this week moved really slowly. Yesterday at work was the slowest day ever for me. Then I heard someone outside my office say "Wow, today is flying!". I wanted to punch them.

@jenjen047 what a crappy morning- nothing like getting all sweaty and then having to sit on an uncomfortable plane! Have a fun trip!

@minskat30 I think losing weight makes me more motivated to work out- because I want to stay that way and I'm just happier and have more energy. I'm still barely doing anything. Why can't I just do nothing, eat tons of food and be skinny like when I was a teenager?!

I am so tired today. I didn't cook dinner last night because I was exhausted and wanted to go to bed early but that didn't happen. I did stupid shit like play on my phone for hours instead of sleeping.
Tonight I'll go for a walk when I get out of work if it's not raining. Then I'll cook dinner. Hopefully I can stay awake until H gets home so I can see him for a bit. I have nothing going on this weekend except my second LHR appt tomorrow morning and then probably dinner with H's parents Sunday since his mom's bday was yesterday. I texted her yesterday morning to say Happy Birthday. Then when I talked to H on the phone I reminded him it was her birthday so he should call her. He must have been out of it- he texted me a couple hours later saying "it's my mom's birthday today, you should call her if you want any brownie points". Um first of all- I already texted her, then I reminded YOU that is was her birthday and brownie points?? Not looking for any brownie points, thanks. He doesn't see my parents because they live out of state so he gets away without calling them on their birthdays, etc. It just irritates me that his parents are supposed to be so important to me because they live here.

edited because it's apparently too early for me

@beachyone - Ha!  I meant grocery shopping sadly not "fun" shopping but the wine and cheese is definitely happening this weekend.  Likely in large quantities.  :)  Those tables look adorable!

@futuremrshistorian - I'm sorry about your BF's grandfather but I'm happy you are going to get to see him.

@lavenderfields13 - Exactly!  I just need to remember how good it feels to be in shape when I reach for the cheese/wine.  ;)  That is irritating about your H's treatment of his parents vs  yours.  I'm sorry.
  • @swazzle yikes blisters :(

@jenjen047 at least yay for making bus and being on time!

@speakeasy14 yay for saving cat converter! :)

@CocoBellaF yay mani/pedi and short day!

@beachyone15 those are cute tables :)

Heat finally broke!!! I have never been so excited to be cold in a long time!!

So Matt picked me up last night since it had already started to storm. Got home, he took apart bed - which he's gonna see if buddy of ours wants for firewood. Definitely not an easy feat taking apart. Some of the screws are stripped, so it got to the point he just snapped screw off. {very easily might I add, so shows how shotty they were at this point.

2 hours and most of the bed is done. Just the drawers underneath, which Matt was too tired to do last night so we're doing it tonight.
Groceries also, and I think while he's doing the drawers I'm gonna tidy up the pantry. It's very disorganized and I really need to fix it.

    Tomorrow he's got a blood donation appt, so we'll prob meet up with people later that day. I really need to hit Sephora at some point soon, I'm running out of 2 of my daily products {and one is a back up!}
  • @Swazzle I hope you have fun this weekend with your nephew! Are they doing a cake smash for his first birthday?

@minskat30 I'm an overpacker too. But I just want to have options while I'm travelling!! I can't stand being stuck to one outfit in case plans changes/the weather is different/whatever. Although I'm pretty sure I wore all the outfits I brought on MY HM (cough @Swazzle cough) ;)

@jenjen047 I HATE being rushed in the morning to make a flight, and then to get all gross and sweaty on top of it sucks even more. I hope you have a blast this weekend in Raleigh!!!

Not a whole lot exciting for me. My week of free Blue Apron meals is supposed to arrive today! We're having some sort of fish, tandoori chicken, and rigatoni! YUM! Tonight I want to do a little cleaning before our friends come over tomorrow morning. We're driving together to the wine festival and I can't wait!!

  • @lavenderfields13 No news yet on the apartment? My parents live local and H's live out of state so we don't see them very often either. However, we DO call them (jointly usually) on their birthdays to wish them a good day. I definitely feel like your H shouldn't slack off on contacting your parents just cause they are out of state, it's important to at least try to be fair to both sets (as far as you can be when one set is nearby and the other isn't anyway).

@TwoDimes ARGH! I wish they'd get your patio set to you already!!!!!

@beachyone15 Your new coffee table is beautiful!

  • @futuremrshistorian - Have a great time with your BF!

    @beachyone15 - I love those tables!

@lavenderfields13 - I hate when someone is like "Oh wow, it's already 1pm?!"

@TwoDimes - I hope you get your patio set! Take pics!

@labro - I have no idea what's happening at this party, honestly. It's at a country club which sounds way fancy for a 1st birthday party. I hope you have a great time at the wine festival!

  • @Swazzle Damn! Well, maybe there will be like an open bar and stuff?

  • @labro No news yet :(  The rental agent we have to go through is working while she's on vaca I think so she's probably not too interested but even when she wasn't away she was taking forever to get back to me. So I have no idea if our credit has been run yet, references checked and if she's contacted the landlord renting the unit?? I'm hoping to hear something on Monday!

Yeah it never bothered me that H doesn't call my parents - but when he said the brownie points thing (maybe as a joke, it was a text so I couldn't tel) and said I should call his mom that pissed me off. He likes my parents and has never been anything but nice to them but he just doesn't get it. He has no idea what it's like to have to see your ILs all the damn time. He has it easy.
I think when I see him I'm going to gently bring up the "brownie points" comment.

  • @lavenderfields13 Yeah the brownie points thing would have definitely rubbed me the wrong way. I'm really thankful H puts up with seeing my parents as often as we do (which is several times a week since we drop the dog off at their house on weekdays) but I do try to cut back on TOO much social time with them for his sake. Also, fingers crossed you hear something on Monday about the apartment!!!

  • @lavenderfields13 - Agree with @labro and @jenjen047 - H's mom is in India and I make sure she gets flowers every year.  We see my family a lot more than we do his because of proximity but, then again, most of our vacation time is spent visiting his.  You have to feel like it is somewhat fair.
  • I don't mean to be a downer but I could use some prayers for baby peaseblossom.  Our scan did not go well yesterday.  There were a few abnormailties found and we had an amnio done.  We are going for another scan on Thursday so see the baby when she is in a better position and get a better idea of what is going on.  Depending on the situation we may need to terminate.

I may not be around as much until things get figured out, I don't know. H & I are a mess right now.  I just needed the support. thanks so much!
