@minskat30 I've always wanted to go to an Indian wedding- they look so fun, especially with the henna and everything leading up to it! Did you guys do some of those things or just the American traditional?

@speakeasy14 @lavenderfields13 @untouchablets @minskat30 @jenna8984 shes definitely not the only single guest coming, or even the only single guest coming from OOT. i get that shes flying, but i dont understand why that makes a difference? she doesnt need a chaperone to fly from DC to Boston. i dont think i will extend an invite to her date for 2 reasons:

1. id hate for other single guests to find out that she got a +1 and they didnt. could cause hurt feelings.
2. they havent bought tickets yet. so if she now knows she is not getting a +1 and buys a ticket for him anyways, thats not my problem. also he wouldn't be sitting in the hotel room all night. he went to law school in Boston so if he came up he would make plans with his own friends, id assume.

@jenjen047 yeah i can definitely understand since she's not the only one and you don't want hurt feelings from other people. i fly alone all the time- and the sob story about getting ready in a hotel room by yourself? really?

@jenna8984 - Indian weddings are fun!  They are also multi-day events though so we didn't go overboard.  I didn't want henna on my wedding day but I'm sure I'll get it at this Indian wedding we are going to.  For our wedding we did incorporate some Indian elements (like the Seven Steps with hurricane candles instead of a fire because, yeah, fire code...we didn't get a good picture of it but this is the best one I have LINK).  Our rehearsal dinner a number of us wore saris as well...I wanted H's mom to feel like we were trying to tie in H's and her culture too which is why I got our photographer to come as a surprise on the rehearsal day (so she had pictures of some of the ladies in saris).  These three are some of my favorites rehearsal dinner pictures LINK1 LINK2 LINK3.

Next trip planned? Do work trip counts? If so, I'll be in Kansas City at the end of the month. After that, we'll be in Orlando on our honeymoon!

Friday GIF/feeling today?

I totally forgot it was a 3-day weekend. My mom reminded me this morning, and now I can't stop smiling!

Last night I was up really late. Like, past 1am late. I got to the really juicy part in Big Little Lies, and I had to finish it! Just as I was finishing the book, FI came to bed, and right as he laid down, the low battery chirp started on the smoke detector. He got up and unplugged it, but it took a little while for us both to get sleepy after that.

Anywho, last night I was practically glued to my computer doing wedding-related things, and I've promised myself that I will focus 100% on work today. I will also get my ass to the gym tonight. I haven't been since last Thursday, so this is seriously ridiculous of me.

Weekend plans:

Tomorrow will be a busy adulting day. We need to go to the baker to finalize the cake design and pay for the cakes, get my car inspected, and something else that I can't remember at this moment... oops. Anywho, Saturday night we're hanging out with a few friends, which should be fun. On Sunday we're going to be LAZY and sleep in, which will be wonderful, and then Sunday night we're going to FIL's for FFIL's birthday dinner. We're in the process of making plans for Monday, but if those fall through, I'm totally ok with being a hermit with FI.

@jenjen047 Sorry you're having issues with your wedding ring! Pics so we can see better what you're describing? I wore my wedding ring yesterday to get a feel for it, but I think because it's so tiny/dainty, it didn't really feel spiky to me. I was worried it would, but my jeweler told me when I ordered the ring that if it did feel spiky, I'd quickly get used to it. So maybe you just need to wear it a little more? JK you just posted your ring pics. I can see what you mean about the difference in height, but I don't really know if wearing the set a little more will help or not. You may get used to it. However, if you're really that uncomfortable with your current setting, then by all means change it. RE: your WR drama. How big of a deal would it be to give her a date at this point? She's totally rude to do that, yes. I've had that happen once already. However, if they've already made travel arrangements, and it's just one extra person, it seems easy enough to add the guest and focus on more important things. I understand it's the principle of the matter, but if you think not giving her a plus one will cause a ton of drama, it may be easier to just bite the bullet and let her bring someone.

@TwoDimes I LOVE NOLA! I hope you're able to tag along! It's such a great city! Soooo jealous! I'm really hoping that FI and I can go for New Year's, but it probably won't happen. PS: Your wedding set is seriously gorgeous. I love it so much!

@jenjen047 - Ugh, I am so sorry about the drama.  I don't understand the big deal about flying alone or getting a hotel room alone. I understand if it's a cost-saving issue for the hotel, but...I love staying in hotels alone.  I always order room service, if I can, and watch trashy TLC shows and drink wine in bed.

This is why I look forward to business trips lol. Change TLC to HGTV, and that's basically my nightly routine when I travel alone. It's the best!

@eilis1228 - id be more inclined if they had made travel plans....but they havent.

i should also note this friend is skipping my bachelorette party because it is the birthday of the guy she is hooking up with (definitely NOT dating, i confirmed). fair enough, except hes going OOT for his bday (without her). so basically she doesn't want to commit to coming to my bachelorette in case he cancels his plans.....which he hasnt even said is a possibility.

and I am waiting until I cut my hours back at Starbucks to start my search but my no-ifs-ands-or-buts date is this spring or early summer. I don't wanna potty train during a new york winter lol. It's gonna be a long wait for sure!

@eilis1228 Ugh I hate it when our smoke detectors go out. That was happening to us when we first moved in. It's like all them decided to die at once and each night a new one would go out so it would start chirping at 3:00a.m. I hated it!

Today I'm getting a massage at 11:45. I'm so excited because lately my lower back has been tight and I definitely think a massage is in order. Afterwards I'm getting a free coffee from Racetrac and picking up lunch. 

The lady who designed our curtains for our nursery is FINALLY done and coming over this afternoon to install them. I'm excited to see what it looks like. I'll AW probably next week.

Tonight I don't have any plans, if the weather cools down I'll probably take Maddux on a long walk since he didn't get much play time yesterday.

Saturday DH is working all day and I desperately need a haircut. My split ends are AWFUL. So I'll go get that done and afterwards probably come home and put together the new bar stools I got yesterday. I found some at Target that were really cheap but they are bronze shade with tan cushions so they look similar to our old ones which my parents gave us back when I moved out of the house.

Sunday we are going to church and then probably BRUNCH! I haven't had brunch in forever so I'm very excited lol. If it's hot out I might suggest the pool to DH.

Monday we don't have any plans yet...maybe just tidy up around the house since Maddux hair is accumulating every second of the day.

Definitely burgers. I love me a cheese burger.

Any traditions for Labor Day?

No not really, it usually falls close to my Dad's bday so we sometimes spend it at the lake celebrating his bday.

Any major purchases you will be making?

I made some major purchases yesterday lol. The Fall decor I bought was on sale so I'm excited about that!

Next trip planned? 

We don't have any trips planned yet. We were thinking about going to the mountains sometime soon this Winter. We haven't hammered out any details yet.

I'm so excited for the weekend!

BF didn't get home from his co-worker's 21 run until after midnight last night, so I'm sure it will be early to bed for us.

Tomorrow we are driving north about an hour to go to an antique mall with BF's brother. We're hoping to find some old furniture to use around the house. Our car isn't that big though, so we won't get too crazy. Then we're BBQ-ing with his parents.

Sunday I get to see my little sister! Omg, I haven't told you guys, my sister and I are going to do those childhood photo re-creations as a Christmas present for our family members! I'm SO EXCITED! So we're gonna go do some thrift store shopping and see if we can get some of the outfits and props bought. Here is an example if you don't know what I'm talking about.

Hopefully my sister will leave somewhat early on Monday and I can have a day to do some cleaning and organizing.

Yes and no. What I've asked for is well within his budget, but I've advised him if it's not doable I wouldn't be disappointed. Things are pretty balanced out for the rest of 2015

Any major purchases you will be making? Hmm, some things for my work wardrobe - I want an actual blazer (not the cheap knit one I've been wearing) and perhaps some more tops, maybe another dress?

What is your favorite food to grill out? Kebobs! We recently started putting pineapple wrapped in turkey bacon on them, and using teriyaki sauce. I'm in love.

Any traditions for Labor Day? Nope. The 3 day weekend is my tradition.

Any major purchase you will be making? Hopefully not. My credit card is hurting (although I'll still be able to pay it off). Getting a reasonable house together is expensive though!! Hopefully we'll find some not too expensive things we like at the antique mall.

Next trip planned? Alaska cruise in 2 weeks!

I went for a run today for the first time in a long time. It felt good. I'm signing up for a November half marathon today... I'm excited and a little nervous how I'll do that training plus Crossfit, but I'll make it work!

I'm so looking forward to a long weekend. We don't even have any plans other than fixing some things around the house and breaking in the new grill that DH's parents got us!

What is your favorite food to grill out? BBQ chicken hands down, but I also love hot dogs and burgers.

Any traditions for Labor Day? Usually going to the beach, but I don't even feel like putting in the energy this year to pack and fight the crowds driving down there. So it'll be an un-laborous Labor Day weekend for us!

Any major purchases you will be making? We might go look at some furniture stores to check out the sales.

Next trip planned? Our 1-year anniversary trip to the Smoky Mountains in October!

QUESTION:

Should I add an extra hour at the reception? Our ceremony is from 5:30 - 6:00pm, and the reception is from 6:00pm-9:30pm. No cocktail hour. It's a Friday wedding as well, if that makes a difference. The cost to add an extra hour is $500. 

What say you, NEY?
