Married 8/19/15 - Reviews Part 1: Cosmo, Cosmo Wedding Suite, Angie Kelly, Cosmo Bakery

Hello! So we're married and it was seriously the. best. day. I am so sad its over but I have amazing pictures and memories to help me re-live it! This board was so helpful for my planning, I want to pay it forward and share my reviews.

Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas: A- (this is for the stay only)  My husband (!!) and I stayed here from Monday through Saturday for our wedding week.  Check in was a breeze and our cooridnator Ashley met us at the check-in desk when we arrived.  We were hoping to be upgraded to a wrap-around terrace suite but we were not. We were disappointed to not get the upgrade after we booked everything at the Cosmo and the front desk manager said that upgrades are granted through your wedding coordinator. TIP: IF YOU WANT AN UPGRADED ROOM PUT THE PRESSURE ON YOUR COORDINATOR.  We booked a terrace suite (? not sure of the exact name) but it was beautiful and very big. Small kitchen and dining area, living room, 2 full bathrooms and a balcony.  We loved it.

There were a couple of snafu's that hold me back from the A+ rating. First, there were a pair of dirty underwear in the room when we checked in. EW! We immediately called housekeeping but it took 3 calls to get someone up there to remove them.  We also needed more hangers for the closet which also took a phone call.  We went down to the check-in desk later that day to ask for a late checkout on Saturday and they flat out told us no. They couldn't give us late checkout until Saturday morning so get up early and call down and see what you can get.  After waiting for dirty underwear to be removed from the room, we were a little upset and asked to speak to the manager.  We weren't looking for anything crazy just a couple more hours to pack up and relax after celebrating our wedding. The manager granted our request after explaining to her what our experiences were.  Unfortunately, they never updated our reservation to reflect the late checkout and we were locked out of our room on Saturday at 11am. We had to go back downstairs to the desk and have them re-issue our keys.

The other misstep is communication between check-in, the wedding coordinator and the identity card desk.  We visited the identity desk 4 times throughout our stay to make sure that we got points for everything we booked at the Cosmo, our room, the wedding dinner at scarpetta, the cabana, the wedding, anything we charged to the room etc.  The first 2 times we went to check they couldn't figure out how to make sure our card was linked to the reservation. After that they said it would be linked and when we went back to redeem some free play they told us it wasn't linked.  It took a phone call and an email after we returned home to finally get confirmation that everything was linked up. We are still waiting to have the invoice for the actual wedding sent over so we can get credit for that.

Cosmo Wedding Suite: A
We had Ashley as our wedding coordinator. She did a great job on the day of the event. The planning with her was easy after we spoke and I had let her know of my expectations for the day.  She was a great advocate for us during the actual event and during the rest of the week when dealing with the hotel. The suite itself was beautiful and very comfortable for our group of 25.  The open bar after the ceremony was a nice touch too. Our guests loved the balconies and the views of the bellagio fountains. The flowers I had asked for were not what I received but in the end, they were still beautiful.  I had also asked for champagne to be in the "get ready" area and to be served at the cocktail reception but there was no champagne to be found. :(  Those two minor things were the only things that I can think of that did not go 100% as planned.

Angie Kelly - B+ Angie was the officiant booked to marry us through the Cosmo. We did not pick her services they were assigned to us.  Overall she did a great job and was very easy to work with.  She sent us a questionnaire beforehand to get to know us and tailored a ceremony from that. She was super nice and bubbly. It was kind of a blur after the ceremony, I don't remember her leaving but everyone said they liked everything she said.

Cosmo Bakery - A+++ Our cake was SOOOO beautiful and SOOOO delicious!! Order your cake through them, you won't be disappointed.  It wasn't crazy expensive either!  We had marble cake with cookies and cream filling. They even wrapped the top tier for and and we brought it home to have on our first anniversary.

Cake Topper - Etsy: Shop name: Mudcards A+++++++
In love with our cake topper.  She got every detail perfect.  <3

More to come!

  • Sounds great so far. Bummer you weren't upgraded after all the money you spent with them :(
  • That cake is gorgeous!

I wouldn't have given them an A- after finding dirty underwear... all holy hell would have broken out, much less if they had issues linking all of my purchases!

  • I feel like we've struggled to get responsive results from Cosmo.  I got the impression they have one wedding package, and it's very much take it or leave it.  Were you able to make any customizations? Do you have any insight on getting them to work with you?

We'd love to have the ceremony there as well, since we're thinking of doing the reception at the property...

  • KatCtoKatA Honestly, communication at first was a little bit challenging. You're not wrong on this observation.   When we first booked we were working with someone named Tina.  We had some issues with her regarding getting things done. For example, she told me once we signed the contract we would be set up with a room block so our guests could start booking their trips. We signed on a Wednesday and were told we would have everything set up by Friday. On Friday I hadn't heard from her so I emailed her and she told me it would be done by Tuesday... I told her that it was unacceptable to not be able to come through on her own set deadline. Magically, after that phone call we had a room block set up and guests started booking right away!

After that conversation, Tina supposedly got a promotion and moved departments so then I got to work with Ashley.  The transition was a little rough because I don't think there was great communication between them and I think all of Tina's work was dumped onto Ashley. After a few frustrating emails reiterating what we had already booked, I called Ashley and told her exactly what I was looking for and what I was expecting. Phone really works better I think than email. After we actually talked on the phone, things were SOOO much smoother. Ashley is super quick to get back to you and really wants you to have a great day!  I would suggest calling there and speaking to someone if that is possible for you.

As for packages, we were told there is only one package, I think it's call "I Do with a View" or something like that.  What we had was the wedding suite for 2 hours, the ceremony, a cocktail reception after the ceremony, 1 hour of photography, flowers, the officiant, and your coordinator, were all included in the package. After you sign on for the package, they send you a list of add-ons or upgrades that you might want.  You can have the suite catered, you can add hours to your photography session, you can add flowers, or live music etc.   We opted to add on to the photography but the other things weren't important to us.

All in all, I wouldn't change ANYTHING about our wedding. In the grand scheme of wedding planning, we really had a relatively stress free experience. There were a few times that we needed to make sure our voices were heard but overall it was easy.
