IT-Related: Anyone have iPhone Crash on iOS 9 Update? Warning: Boring

Hey Y'all,

Apologies in advance for boring thread.  I'm overseas at the moment and my phone was crashing a ton so I updated to iOS 9 while connected to a network.  I was successful at downloading update and installing but am stuck on "Slide to Upgrade" screen.  I found this link online that tells you to connect to the computer where you back up your iTunes, etc., which I've done.  http://www.valuewalk.com/2015/09/how-to-fix-slide-to-upgrade-ios-9/

However, it's instructing me "To allow access please respond on your iPhone" but I can't since it's locked and stuck on that "Slide to Upgrade" screen.

I put in an IT ticket but TBH, I have more faith in throwing out a "WWTKD"  in this case.

Anyone have experience fixing?

TIA

  • My DH is having that problem with his Ipad.   He is technologically challenged, so I'm going to try and fix it today.

  • ok - I had everything typed out then re-read your question! I had the exact same issue.

You need to do a forced restart of your device before trying to reconnect it - then you'll be able to swipe - put in your passcode - then you'll still eventually get stuck at swipe to upgrade (like I did) - but then you should be able to follow the steps outlined in the link you copied.

This. My phone didn't crash during the upgrade process, but it did a few days later. I was able to turn the screen on and off, and open apps, but the swipe feature didn't work. Forced restart solved the problem and my phone was back to normal. Hasn't happened since.
  • I did a force reset on DH's Ipad yesterday.  Nothing.    Just keeps asking for the password every so often.

This is what happened/ is happening to my iPad since last night. FI said he'd fix it tonight. He tried last night, but to no avail. He said we might have to reset it to the factory settings. Luckily, I have no pictures on there, but I might lose progress in some games which kind of bums me out.

    That is what DH fears.

That is pretty much all he does on is Ipad.   Just games.

  • I had the same problem with my iPad and my phone; luckily I backed both of them up beforehand. I had to do a forced reset several times before it finally worked. I haven't noticed anything missing on either device, but my iPad is still sluggish/jumpy if I play a game.

  • Thanks everyone.

I just bitched to IT and ordered a new phone (I needed an upgrade anyway) but I'm going to be devastated if I loose all my pics, which I may and have not backed up.  Buh-bye wedding week photos...gah.

Thanks again.  I've restarted but I'll try another forced restart when I'm back home on my home network.
