Wedding Dress, will it fit?

I wanted a Disney wedding dress,  but they are out of my budget.  I saw one on Ebay,  bid on it,  looks like I may win it.   Now I am having second thoughts after reading how small dresses run.  I recently put on 52 lbs after back surgery,  I am working on losing at least 40 by my May wedding.  I am 5'10,  currently a size 8-10 pant (usually a 4-6),  and currently a 14-18 top (usually a 12).  The dress is a size 14 with a corset back.  http://www.ebay.com/itm/161834752111?_trksid=p2055359.m1431.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT
Anyone familiar with this dress and how it fits?

  • I just went and checked on that ebay listing and honestly I wouldn't pay that person my money, they have had 0 feedback as a seller and remind me of the Chinese knockoff sites and doesn't offer returns.

  • It's too late for that,  I bid on the dress.
  • That dress looks VERY tiny.

I do not know how those dresses run personally, but I purchased an Allure Couture gown, I am normally a pant size 8, shirt size 10 and I had to order a size 16 dress.

It does say that it is a size 16 - so maybe it will work - and maybe because it is a corset they can add more paneling to the back if it doesnt?
  • In dresses you will need a larger size than pants in most cases.
I'm a 16 pants and my dress fits perfectly as a 16 but this is not common. So it may fit. If it's coming from a Chinese seller they do not typically do American sizes they run smaller.
I hope if you win it turns out perfect. Good luck.
  • Looks like it's coming from us seller with decent (be it small) feedback.
Let us know how it turns out.
  • Fortunately it has a tie back from what the description says so that's nice!  I'm a street size 18 and my dress was a 16W which we had to tie up TIGHT and made the ribbon of the corset thin.  I probably could have gone down a size but the only alterations I really need are at the bust.  I would think it would be fine but I'd be nervous to risk it.

I should point out that the bolded depends entirely on what shape you are.

Sorry unrelated, but oof is this ever true.  I was in Toronto area clothes shopping once at a mall and went into a store that looked like it had some nice clothes.  As I was browsing, a very tiny woman was speaking to someone who worked at the store who informed her that she would be more like a size Large, not a Small like she usually is, because it was in Chinese sizing.  I promptly turned and walked out as I couldn't imagine they would have anything for me, usually being a size 14 or 16 US or Canadian sizes.
