Reviews MGM Grand Skyline Terrace and lots of others!! (UK bride)

MGM Skyline Terrace
> Absolutely stunning - was exactly what I wanted and more view wise. We had the ceremony at 7:10pm - the Strip was lit up and it was amazing. We had originally scheduled it for 7pm, but having sat the previous night on the terrace we realised this coincided with helicopters doing the sunset Strip tour and they were quite loud.
> In terms of check in, we had to wait an hour until 4pm to check in. We were comped 4 people at the buffet but I can imagine this would have been an epic pain if you weren’t checking in the night before.
> There was absolutely no issue with getting suppliers up to the suite. Some of our suppliers actually went to reception and they just rang up to the suite to check it was ok to let them up. No issue or questions from reception.
> The stereo system was really good, there were speakers inside and outside on the balcony. We took standard 3.5mm to 3.5mm headphones cable, which meant we could hook up our mobiles. There was no bluetooth. I’m almost certain reception would have provided this cable if we had asked, but we brought our own so we didn’t ask. There are remote controls to control the volume and playing on the balcony, livingroom and bedroom (separately).
> There are a nice variety of light settings throughout the suite, including on the balcony. We had candles as well, but they kept blowing out.
> The room service prices were what I would describe as excessive, even the person taking our order couldn’t believe they were charging $6 for a banana.
> The only potential issue we had were the people on the balcony above. A couple of hours before the ceremony they were flicking cigarette butts and were making a lot of noise. Luckily they were gone when we were holding the ceremony and for the majority of the day. We didn’t want to call security because we didn’t want to be at war with them or create a fuss. Our plan was to ask them nicely to be quiet if they hadn’t gone away of their own accord.
> There was an ice machine but we needed loads of ice to cool down our post ceremony drinks so it took loads of trips and we ended up exhausting one of the machines so had to go up a floor. I’d have bought a bag of ice.

  • Wolfgang Puck Bar & Grill
    > This is downstairs on the casino floor, very convenient to get to from the suite. We were quoted a minimum of $1,500 plus tax and tip for the private room. The room could hold up to 18 people, but it didn’t feel too big for the 9 of us. The room has one wall of wine bottles and another wall made of glass, so you still feel part of the restaurant and casino, but also that you have your own space!
    > The food was awesome, I had pizza :-) - but you couldn’t fault the menu in terms of having something for everyone. Due to our numbers, there was no requirement to pre-order which I really liked.
    > The wedding cake they made us was delicious, we couldn’t really take it with us because it was a sponge cake with buttercream which we realistically couldn’t do much with so we left for the staff to enjoy. We sent them a picture/description of what we wanted and it was pretty spot on. They provided us with a cutting knife for the photos and then sliced the cake up for dessert. The cake counted towards our minimum so I just ordered the cake I wanted even though it was very, very large for 9 people.
    > We ordered some table decorations from The Palette and the best man took them down between the ceremony and the meal start time and they look gorgeous! (They are happy for you to decorate the table/room).
    > They printed a special menu with our names at the top which was a lovely touch and at my request removed the prices.
    > They gave permission for Joey Allen to take some photos, as long as he didn’t annoy the other guests which is fair enough!
    > We had a champagne toast and then pre-selected bottles of wine (I did this for ease so I could just tell them to keep getting bottles of wine and they knew which ones), we also ordered cocktails.
    > The staff were superb, they took care of us very well - made sure we had everything we needed and made sure we spent out minimum ;-)

    Joey Allen
    > Joey Allen is artistic! We were a bit pants to work with as we don’t really have our pictures taken and had no sense of how to pose. He was very patient with us and told us how to pose. Our photos our in the mail now, but all the photos he showed us on the camera were absolutely stunning.
    > Not only did he take photos, but he managed the entire photo tour of the Strip, before we arrived I did a photo tour based on his suggestion, then on the tour we coordinated with the bus driver, told everyone what was happening/where to stand/worked out the timings. One of the places he suggested (the garden outside Caesars Palace) was beautiful - wouldn’t have thought to go there but it was one of the best places.
    Overall he was fantastic.

    Peachy Keen - Angie
Angie was absolutely awesome. Yes she performed a really special and magical ceremony but she did way more than this. We had a wedding rehearsal the day before (which I highly recommend! Its more complicated than you think) and she made suggestions about everything, little things but it made all the difference. Our wedding went from a DIY wedding to one organised by an expert under her guidance.
  • The Palette
The flowers that I got from the Palette were simply the most stunning flowers I’ve ever seen. They were absolutely beautiful. The flowers weren’t a big deal to me (I wouldn’t exactly describe myself as  flower person), but on the day after they arrived they took my breath away - I was ecstatic with them.

    AWG Ambassador
AWG Ambassador were really good, I arranged and paid everything in advance. They were waiting for us on time. The bus was nicer than in the picture (the only party bus I could find without a stripper pole). The bus driver was really friendly, accommodating and coordinated with Joey Allen. The bus had loads of glasses, ice and bottles of water.

    Amelia C
My makeup and hair was awesome. I was really worried as usually I get umpa lumpa’ed when I have my make up done as I have extremely pale skin. But I was so happy with the result, I’d be happy not to have a trial.

    Earl of Sandwich
As we gathered everyone at the suite for the photo tour at around 1pm/1:30pm we organised for a delivery from EOS in advance. We got ten sandwichs, crisps, brownie/cookie cupcake things and a massive bowl of fruit $160. We did lose a sandwich so not sure if they failed to deliver one or if someone ate two or what. We also couldn’t have any other flavor of crisps then ready salted. I was also really nervous as I emailed them the day we checked in at 5pm (the day before the delivery) with the room number and I got no acknowledgment at all - so until the food arrived I was a bit nervous that it was going to arrive.

  • Other Points:
    > I had my wedding dress and a three-piece suit and a shirt steamed by the Luxor for $50!! I couldn’t believe how cheap this was, dropped it off at the belldesk early one morning, back in my room by the end of the day.
    > We did a photo strip tour which lasted 2.5 hours. I felt this was the right length of time, any shorter and we would have missed out on some photos and any longer and it would have been too grueling.
    > I’m really glad that we did Welcome Bags, in the weeks before we left I resented how much time/money I had spent on them and was certain they wouldn’t be appreciated and the space they took up in the suitcase, they were really, really appreciated though!!
    > On the suggestion of Angie we had some drinks ready for after the ceremony - this worked out so well but required a trip out to buy cups and drinks which I hadn’t planned for (as we had the champagne organised at the restaurant we thought that would be sufficient but it really helped with the flow after the ceremony).
    > Don’t let anyone tell you that your planning too much or too far in my advance!

    Things I would change:
    > I had my nails done (with Shellac) in the UK before I left and I would have preferred just to have had them done in Las Vegas and have scheduled this in.
    > I tried to schedule something for the evening before the wedding which was a mistake as we didn’t have time.
    > I’d organised cocktails at the Mandarin Oriental after the meal as I was concerned about atmosphere and it being awkward but it was so far from that, we went back to the suite after the meal and had an amazing time.
    > Our honeymoon was really good - we drove up to San Francisco for 4 nights (stopping two nights at Pismo Beach), then flew to New York for four nights. The one thing I would say about our choice was that it was exhausting - our week in Las Vegas was a lot more tiring than usual and there is a level of stress in holding a wedding even if your very relaxed about it.
