I mean, the guy on the right looks really nice! What on earth could you be mad about if he showed up like that? I can sort of understand being miffed about those who are underdressed but definitely not to the point of needing 18 photo demonstrations a la goldilocks to try and prevent it.

The groomsmen are in suits. So they are not too formal, but the man in the black suit is? Holy double standard! I know H would be pissed if he was told he shouldn't wear a suit, and then all the GM were in suits.

Seems like most of the commenters on the blog have a hard time dressing themselves.

Why do people care so much how people come dressed for their wedding?  I just don't get it.  Do they do this for all parties or is just because weddings are deemed as their super speschul day where they are rulers of the world?

Goodness my wedding website only mentions that the ceremony may be outdoors on grass.  I need to download several pictures of 'acceptable' footwear pronto.

Better yet maybe a 'Hot or Not' section for guests to post pictures of their outfit for prior approval?

    Crazy.  Thanks for this!
The bolded almost made me spit my coffee out!  Inevitably, one of the guys in my family always shows up in jeans but you never know which one it is until you're there.  This would give away the  big surprise!

  • Good lord.  We had people show up in anything from shorts and a golf shirt to full on suits.  The guest attire had ZERO affect on the day.

When people asked me what they should wear though, I did say it was pretty casual... stuff like jeans and boots were fine since that's what H and his best man were wearing (and I think that's the answer they wanted to hear anyway haha).  I did have my mom's sweet cousin who is in her 70s ask if she should wear a western square dancing outfit because the reception was in a barn....  I told her she could if she wanted, but just a casual dress was fine too :)

HA!!! Love it!!!! My grandfather was a square dance caller and my mom & aunt were in clubs all through their childhood. I even had my own outfit as a child. A square dance wedding would be amazing, haha. Hmmm... ;)

  • I can imagine one of my aunt's just turning to me to say, "WTF is this?" after I forced her to read something like that.

The floral dress with pale tights is OK but don't wear the A line skirt with the dark tights or it could be formal.   The cardigan is not OK and the dark suit isn't OK either.

    What. The. Fuck.

I'd have a good time telling a girlfriend that the only thing she succeeded in doing by making that blog post was avoiding her Netflix queue.

  • Maybe she should just ask everyone to be in the wedding party and dictate the outfits. Because that's essentially what she's doing.

    Just, wow.

We had everything from suit & tie to khakis & flip flops at our wedding.  When people asked what to wear, my response was "groom is wearing a suit, I'm wearing a dress... beyond that, I don't care what people wear. Your attire won't affect my day.  It's a mid afternoon wedding on a cruise ship, so not super formal.  But, I've been told there is a decent amount of walking (ceremony & reception was opposite end of the ship from the lunch buffet), so you may want comfortable shoes."  And somehow, everyone still figured out how to dress themselves without me dictating specific attire.
