Help with Vw351178 logistics Davids Bridal

I purchased the DB VW 351178. I don't want it poofy (I want it to look like the photo), so I tried it with the A line petticoat. The stylist put me in the highest heels possible, and the dress was still dragging on the floor, so it was impossible to see if the petticoat was sufficient enough to hold out the dress without it folding in between my legs. I want to figure this out before I get it hemmed, because obviously a larger petticoat means less hemming. Can anyone tell me the smallest size petticoat they wore with the dress?

Also bustling: We bought the dress, and they said about $150 for the bustle. Now they say it requires a 25 pt bustle, aka over $400 for alterations. How many points did you use for bustling this? I'd like to have a number in mind before I bring it to another tailor and have them look at it -- I don't want to get the dress dirty.

  • I'm sorry but I am no help on the petticoat situation.

As far as the bustling, I would suggest going somewhere besides DB for alterations.  There are many different types of bustles out there that don't require that many points and a tailor should be able to suggest one that will work well with your dress.  Also DB has a reputation for over charging for alterations.  For example, for me to get my dress hemmed and a 2 point bustle put in only cost me about $120.  So take it to someone else for a quote.  Your dress won't get dirty if you keep it in the bag and are careful when you are at the alterations place.
