  • Oh that's right. He's the guy who punched her in the face and damaged her eye so badly she can't drive, but it's somehow acceptable because he was "sleeping" and has mental health issues. Idk if you're real and just like the attention on here from time to time, or a bored troll, but you shouldn't be married to this man and you know it.
    Oh holy hell!

  • Marriage and Family Therapy student here. APA guidelines allow for therapists to drop a client if they feel they are a threat to themselves or others (including the therapist), are not benefiting from therapy, may be harmed by therapy, or if they do not need therapy anymore.

The therapist your husband was seeing did not terminate ethically, though. Per the Code of Ethics, a therapist should notify the client about the termination and offer an explanation as well as suggestions of other therapists to see instead.

We don't know this for sure, though.  All we have is hearsay.
True, you are right about that. I should have clarified. IF what we have heard is true, then it wasn't ethical.

As I understand should be done in writing.

Now, this was done after his first visit.  Is there a probationary period so to speak?  Just wondering.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.

That one I'm not sure about. I don't remember reading anything about a length of time a counselor should wait before making a decision like that, but I would think it would take more than one session. Simply because 1st sessions are typically "getting to know you" periods more or less. If the counselor saw that her husband's issues were outside of his or her area of expertise in the first session then that could be the reason. Still, he shouldn't have found out when he called to schedule the 2nd appointment. That news should have been broken both in person and in writing regardless of the reason.

I appreciate the information about the ethics of dropping him.

I don't do this for attention. It's just nice having opinions from people who don't know me in real life so I can get blunt, unbiased opinions on the whole thing.

And yes he is mentally disabled.
