Separate bridal showers for divorced parents?

My parents have been divorced for seven years. They do not get along. My maid of honor is throwing me a bridal shower and inviting all the women on both sides of my family. My mom and her side of the family are all fine with coming to my bridal shower. However, my dad's side of the family is uncomfortable with it. My step mother has offered to throw me a separate shower just for my dad's side of the family. 

My question is:

Is it okay for my step mother to throw me a second shower to avoid the mixing of my families?
