My fiance and I having been having discussions regarding the groomsmen attire. My fiance is wearing his dress uniform which is considered formal dress by the military. My son is the best man and is wearing his dress JROTC uniform. We are trying to figure out what attire we should put remaining two groomsmen in. The use of the military uniforms dictates a sense of formality (ie they should wear tuxs). The time of day however (ceremony is 11am followed immediately by lunch reception) dictates a more casual approach (such as vest and tie with no coat). Any ideas?

Suits would be perfect.  The correct formal daytime menswear is a cutaway.  Tuxedos are less formal than a cutaway, and are evening clothes ONLY.  Cutaways can be rented, but they are seldom seen in the USA.  They are often worn in the UK.

A two piece suit would be very nice for a morning wedding, and they look great next to a dress uniform. A vest and tie with no coat is not proper menswear at any time, though people do it.  That doesn't make it proper, though.

Thanks my fiance was leaning toward the suit (the groomsmen are 12 and 11 years old)

I think navy suits would look nice.  

And I loved my groom in his vest and tie and no coat :-P

Young men should never wear tuxedos until they are at least 16 years old.  Tuxedos are not for children.  Do suits.  They can take their jackets off to be comfortable later during the reception.
