I have short-timers and other random stuff

Is it Friday yet?    Minus answering phones, I'm completely caught up at work for when I go on vacation.  It's going to be a long few days. :(

Random stuff:   I went to Famous Footwear and bought some cute Steven Madden sandals.  Hand over my card, she asked for ID.   I go to pull it out, ah it's missing.    She wouldn't let me get the shoes.  I had no cash.   Thank god DH was close by and had to pay for me.

Apparently, I never took my license out of my carry-on bag when I returned from NYC 2.5 weeks ago.  I've been driving all over the place without my license.  Oops.

Oh and damn you Target.   Went in for A bathmat, as in ONE, that was all.  Ended up with 2 bathmats, new shower curtain, new shower curtain liner, cordless steam cleaner, baskets for DH crap in the bathroom and a bunch of other crap. At one point I found myself walking down the travel size aisle and just started throwing shit in my basket.

Why does Target just suck you in like that?    The good news is I only hit up Target a few times a year.

Re: I have short-timers and other random stuff

  • I'm right there with you on the short timers.. I'm being laid off and my last day is December 3. It has been super hard to keep any kind of motivation and it doesn't help that I work from home. I am usually awesome at working from home since I have been doing it for two years but knowing I will be done soon is making it hard to want to do anything!

Target sucks you in, happens to me every time. I go in for a greeting card and leave with 3 sweaters, 2 tank tops, and some random thing I don't really need for the house.

  • I work from home too.  It's hard to stay motivated.  Doesn't help DH is pretty much off now too. He is always yelling down asking me if I'm still working.

Regarding the license fun, last year I had posted something on Facebook about the voter ID laws (not anything controversial).  The day before, I had to scan my license to provide government-issued proof of address for something random.  I went to go vote and I didn't have my ID.  The irony / timing was comical.

    Where's vacatiton, @lyndausvi?
  • I lost my driver's license several months ago. The day after I got a new one, the old one was mailed back to me. So now I keep one in my regular wallet and one in my tiny wallet. After football season, H will carry the old one in his wallet, which is nice. I love the two ID system.

I rarely go to Target. I'm a Walmart kind of girl. I've heard Target has okay clothes though.

I hate my job and I'm pissy from the minute I walk in. We have two new employees who regularly disappear for like a half hour together. Yesterday one heard me mutter under my breath "does anyone else work here?". Oh well. Do your fucking job.

    Welcome back, holyguac. :)

Target and Hobby Lobby, I only go if I absolutely NEED something that is there.. I came home from Hobby Lobby monday night and said, "under $100 I did good this time!!" H just laughed..

I am in the can't stand my Job club as well, I am having a really hard time to keep motivated.. I really have to try to not yell at people, and I am typically patient and helpful, this place has made me in to a hateful person...

Glad to see you gain.  Hope all is well.

1 night in Denver because our flight is early the next day and we live 3-4 hours away. Then Tampa for 2 nights, before heading to Anguilla for 6 nights.

We have an overnight layover  @ JFK on the way back.  That is only a few minutes from DH's hometown. We will get to see his mom, have good Chinese food and see some other friends. It will be a whirlwind 14 hours.

  • When I lived alone I used to get sucked into the Target random décor or houseware stuff, but since I've been with H the house isn't conducive to the random stuff (mostly because our two styles still haven't melted together so it is mostly his stuff and my random Target stuff doesn't go with it). Sometimes I miss those trips but then again I like my $$ !

  • Sounds like a great trip, Lynda - have fun!

This is me. Except it's like once a week. I usually buy our groceries at Target (minus the meat and produce) because I hate dealing with Walmart and our Target has a huge selection of organic food. But then I come home with all kinds of other stuff... usually large bowls or platters for entertaining (which I do a lot of!!! so it's justified right?image)  Poor DH's eyes almost bug out of his head every time I come home from there. I usually try to make up for it by buying him some kind of food to distract him ;)

  • I used to live 5 minutes from a Target and would go anytime we needed "something."  But now that we moved, we are more like 15-20 minutes depending on the Target.  So I don't go as much.  We are actually saving money because we live farther away!

But I will say that when I needed to go to Target and get just 1 thing, I would not get a cart.  You will most likely buy less if you can't just fill up a cart.  That is one of the reasons BB&B employees are told to offer you a cart.

I try this, even at the grocery store then I end up with stuff piled in my arms, on my shoulders, and everywhere else I can carry them and I know I look ridiculous!

  • My old apartment was less than half a mile from Target accordding to Google Maps (and some of that distance includes the parking lot.  I would walk there since it was more hassle to drive there and attempt to find parking.  Also, it helped discipline me because I had to carry home whatever I bought.

Well I was on some kind of retreat/vacation in this cool old castle.  I thought you were @sarahufl, but then you started talking about something or other you did because of being catholic and I was like wait... that's @holyguacamole!  Where has she been? lol

You would think I had been spending too much time on TK, but I actually hadn't checked in much at all!

    That's hilarious!!!  I think @sarahufl is Catholic, too ....
I was on a horrible project that royally kicked my ass for several months.  I was working insane hours & weekends and was also expected to work holidays (um, no - not working 4th of July kthxbai).  It got to the point where my husband would get home from work (I worked from home).  I'd give him a kiss and he'd bring my dinner into my office.  And I'd see him again when I crawled into bed around midnight.

    So yeah ... that's where I've been.

I'm not sure!  Shortly after I recognized @holyguacamole, I was trying to sketch the floor plan of the castle because we were supposed to go on some sort of scavenger hunt or something there and I thought that would be helpful.  Then a man ran in saying he was having a stroke, please call 911, but my phone only had 908 on it, and it wouldn't dial, and then someone who didn't speak much English was the 908 operator and I didn't know the address of the castle/hotel.... So I woke up.

Oddly, I just got assigned today a project down at one of the monasteries on the Hudson river, so I wonder if it will look similar when I get there!

ETA: I did just look it up and I'm a little freaked out to go now, since there is an obvious Catholic connection, and there is some sort of treatment center on the property...!image

I still have my old license with my maiden name on it and I carry that also. DH usually has one too. Once I officially get my name changed on my bank accounts, my old license will forever live with DH. I hate carrying a purse so if we are going out, anything we need better fit in DH's wallet or my bra.

  • So I went down there on Friday, and directly next to my project site was the "castle" - - I hightailed it out of there ASAP!!

Later that night, my dad took me to a murder mystery dinner theater, so that must be where the rest of the dream came in - CRAZY!!!!
