All,
So I'm back from both my wedding and my honeymoon! The wedding day went extremely fast. All day it was just normal, go about business type of things. Have breakfast, went for a walk, took a shower. Then people started coming over. Then more people. Then someone's setting up a huppah outside. Before you know it there's twenty people in the bridal suite I'm trying to get my hair done and the photographer's having people do this and that. Then I'm standing in the hall, and a woman's telling me 'go go go!' and then I'm in the aisle. The whole evening went by without really a hitch that I'm aware of, but I wish I'd gotten to dance more. I was so focused on talking to EVERYBODY and hitting every table that suddenly the lights were on and people were shuffling out.
Luckily it was a gorgeous day, we couldn't have asked for better weather. I had a couple of big concerns about the big day but most seemed to come off pretty well.
ETIQUETTE
Thanks to these boards I've been etiquette-insane. Is everyone hosted properly, does everyone have everything they need, is everything comfortable and smooth for the guests, etc. So far the only faux paus I can find from the wedding is that the caterer only set 7 places at one table instead of 9, but they whipped up two more settings in no time flat. While I've received a lot of compliments on the music and the food, what I really hope is that everyone was comfortable and respected.
SHOES
Some of you may remember I couldn't get my dress hemmed without going broke so I wore 4.5 inch heels down the aisle. In the aisle it was great! After, during pictures, it started to hurt. While we were walking down the stairs to head into the reception I twisted my ankle and had to switch to flats for the rest of the night. Then my bustle broke. So all my pictures after the fact are of me carrying around my train but whatever, nothing broke and I didn't trip in front of anybody but my now H and the photographer.
PROGRAM GIRL
We had some family drama over one girl wanting to be a flower girl, but we picked one from each side to be fair. At her request, we made a basket for programs for her to hand out. I looked out the window at one point while people were getting seated and a venue person was handing out the programs, the little girl didn't even want to I guess. Which is all fine, I'm very happy about it and I saw the girl through the night and she seemed to be happy. Just made me chuckle about how all that drama was for nothing.
BAND
So I looooooved our band. Nah actually I didn't care I don't think I heard any of the music playing but for the Hora. However everyone else loved our band. Which was great! Except at one point toward the end of the night the band leader came up to me telling me that the check I wrote for him at the start of the night was actually $300 short. I freaked out and ran back to my room searching for the checkbook until H came by and was like "Fuck it, send it to them later." I realized that was the sensible thing to do, I just kind of wish the guy had left me alone on, you know, my wedding after I'd already given him several grand. We were in constant email contact, he could have easily emailed me about the $300. I mailed it the next day.
HORA
GUYS I DID THE HORA. Check some of the pics to see how it went.
ETA: This post was way too long, I'll save my advice for another day. :P
