NWR Baby Shower Vent

I just got an Facebook evite to a baby shower for a friend. She is hosting it for herself at her own house! Good grief, when she became engaged a few months ago I offered to host a shower (this was before I knew she was pregnant), and she declined. The invite had some "cutesy" little poem about doing things in the wrong order. Ugh! All kinds of tacky - and I'm talking about giving yourself a shower, not having a baby before getting married even though the poem was a bit much.

    I was thinking about posting about my sister's tacky "sprinkle." Supposedly her friend is planning it (for her second boy), but it may be at sister's house. Invitations went out weeks ago, as it was at least 10 days ago she posted about receiving RSVPs. I didn't get one, nor did any of my family members.

    This past weekend, I got a text from sister that I "am welcome to come to the sprinkle on November 22." No time or location.

    Sister is due MARCH 25. Who has a shower ("sprinkle") in their second trimester??

    Update on my "sprinkle" - she has two registries.  Over 70 items, including a dresser and a video monitor system!

    Has your mom thought about just slapping some sense into her? I am the matriarch now in my branch of the family and I wouldn't waste a moment scheduling that little Come to Jesus!

    That's so annoying.  I do believe every baby is special, but that's why you should have a "come visit the baby" party after the baby is born.  No gifts expected, obviously, although some people may want to bring a little something.  But no sending out registries, no showers, ESPECIALLY hosted by yourself.  Geez.

    Yeah right, my mom is the one insisting we go even though it was originally "friends only" and we weren't technically invited - and the one who spread the registry info this morning... ya know, a week before. 

    My BFF speculated that maybe we were invited last minute because only 2 things have been purchased from the registry to date!
