Wedding Invitations & Paper

Please check my invite wording.....

This should be easy, but when I wrote it out, it seems weird to me. Which one is correct?

Together With Their Families

Bride & Groom

Request the Pleasure of Your Company

At the Celebration of Their Marriage

or

Together With Their Families

Bride & Groom

Request the Pleasure of Your Company

At Their  Wedding Celebration

Thank you!

Re: Please check my invite wording.....

  • You only need to capitalize proper names and the first letter of each line.

Let me ask this:  Is the invitation not to the actual wedding ceremony but to a post-wedding-day "celebration" ?  That's what your post suggests.  I would use for this:

    Together with their families

    Bride

    and

    Groom

request the pleasure of your company

at the celebration of their recent marriage

followed by the logistical information.  (@CMGragain can verify if this is right or close)

If this is an invitation to your actual wedding ceremony, then I would use

    Together with their families

    Bride

    and

    Groom

request the honor of your presence (for a religious ceremony)/

request the pleasure of your company (for all other ceremonies)

as they are united in marriage

    on Day, Date

    at time

    Venue Name

    Venue Address

    City, State/Country

Reception immediately to follow (if the reception is being held at the same venue)

If the reception is at a different venue, use a separate insert worded as follows:

    Reception

    Immediately following the ceremony

    Venue Name

    Venue Address

    City, State/Country

  • Thank you.

Not married yet, so it would be for the ceremony (non-religious) and reception (same venue)

"At the celebration of their marriage" seemed off to me. "As they are united in marriage" is what I was trying to say.

    Thanks again!

The wording is dependent upon the location of the ceremony, not the nature of it.  "Honour of your presence" should be used if the ceremony is being held inside a house of worship.
I knew a church minister who conducted a religious marriage service on top of a ferris wheel at a county fair.  It was "pleasure of your company".  Thank goodness I wasn't invited to that one!  I hate amusement parks.
