Wedding Woes

It's Tuesday

I survived a driving lesson with Son last night.  He's...ok.  He's not comfortable yet and that's fine.  It was only his second time behind the wheel.  We've got a lot of practicing to do.

We got all our xmas decorations out yesterday and all but one tree decorated.  I love seeing all the decorations/ornaments the kids have made over the years.  They're so sweet.

I'm 99% finished with shopping.  Now I need to start wrapping.  It wouldn't be so bad if I could just be alone in the house for a while.  I send two kids off to school in the morning, but the third is in the afternoon preschool class and by the time I take her, DH is home from work.  We have approx 90 kid-free minutes from the time I drop off DD2 to the time I pick up DD1, so we try to take advantage of that to the fullest.  Wrapping presents isn't too fun when we could be doing anything else with no kids.

Re: It's Tuesday

  • I'm not even 50% done with Christmas shopping.  Also, I have school stuff to work on with DefConn that's holiday related.  I have no desire to do much, if any, of it.

Last night, I was going to make chicken ravioli with alfredo sauce.  I bought the raviolis from Costco on Saturday and they were all moldy.  DH wants to return them, but I'm not sure it's worth the time for $10.

    It's the kiddo's bday.  I cannot believe he's 15.  Driver's Ed is DH's job, not mine.  ;)

    Happy birthday to him!

DH and I are taking turns.  DH is more calm than I am, but I am much better at explaining things.  DH makes things too complicated.

(And I was amazing yesterday.  Calm and cool and soothing on the outside while freaking the eff out on the inside.)
  • Awww. Fun times. Please don't act like my dad, hitting on the brakes from the passenger side. smh

  • I'm probably about half done shopping, I usually enjoy it but seem behind this year for some reason.
I went through teaching 3 to drive, I feel for the 2 of you with kids those ages. H and I both worked with them, but they like me better, I was good with the calm outside, freaking out inside part, lol.  The reward is coming though, they
will make good errand runners very soon!

I have hardly done any shopping at all, but we ship most of our gifts and I feel like it's weird if they arrive on like Dec. 11.  I'll probably get them going sometime next week.

Christmas cards are addressed but still need stamps and return address labels.  Lights are all up except for DD's closet.  I think I can knock that one out between dinner and baths tonight.

DS was killing me last night.  Lately, after we read books and then sing songs in the glider, he likes to lie on the floor before I put him in his crib.  So we'll stretch out on one of his quilts and cuddle before he's off to bed.  Last night, he leaned over and kissed my head.  So I kissed his head, and he giggled.  Repeat x 10.  Silly boy.  :)

Meanwhile, we were in the car and DD said "Mom?"  I died a little.  She's always called me Mommy.  Now I'm Mom.  :'(
  • The kiddos around here are growing up so fast!  I love hearing your stories.  Who is having a baby so we can all enjoy some baby goodness too?!?

  • We have a lot to do tonight - packing for our trip to St. Louis - we leave tomorrow morning. (At least it's not at the crack of dawn, like most of our family trips. We took a little bit later flight so we could drop the dogs off tomorrow instead of tonight.)

we got most of the laundry done last night, so hopefully all of the hanging stuff is dry by the time i get home.

after today, i only have 4 working days left in 2015. looking forward to the time off and relaxing.

  • My mission is to mail my Christmas cards this week. I boycotted for the past two years, but I think I will pick them up again.

  • We have Max's 3 year pictures today.  I asked what he wanted for his birthday dinner "Turkey, brown rice, applesauce."  Um, ok.

For some reason I buy 2 boxes of Christmas cards after Christmas every year.  Except, I've been sending photo cards for the last 7 years.  I use a handful of non-photo for teachers and whatnot, but not 2 boxes!  This year I printed pictures and will be shoving them in all the left over cards from years past.

Are you part of the War of Christmas[TM]?  ;)
  • Heffa, I'm not sure I know what that is. Please explain?

The "War on Christmas" is a rallying cry of Fox News and their followers when anyone ever tries to discuss the fact that there are several other holidays celebrated during December and it's really not a time frame that's completely owned by Christians.  See also: Wishing someone a "Happy Holidays" vs. "Merry Christmas" and the great 2015 Holiday Starbucks Cup outrage.

Exactly.  I thought that maybe by boycotting Christmas cards, you were taking sides with Starbucks and those a-holes who say "Happy Holidays!" instead of "Merry Christmas."
  • Oh. Let me think. I do say Merry Christmas, but if I know that a person is a different religion, I will wish them a Happy Hanukah or whatever the holiday is for that religion. Our nurse always gives me something for Christmas, so I will give her a Hanukah present instead.

I don't really say Happy Holidays often, but will say it if I know that the person doesn't celebrate Christmas.

My cards always says Merry Christmas, though.

  • No, I was boycotting because I would only get two or three cards after I mail them out to the same people every year.
