In Suite Weddings

Is anyone else doing an in suite wedding?

Re: In Suite Weddings

  • I did one in April! MB Vista Suite for 30 people! It was the best day ever! Let me know if you have any questions!
  • I think we were texting yesterday. :D And you are AWESOME! lol
  • Aww haha I didn't even ask for your name I just get so excited talking about it! I want to plan another wedding in Vegas it was so fun!
  • I have a question plz, do the hotels mind in suite receptions? I hear so much about them not letting food in, that I assumed you could do nothing with the rooms, slept sleep. Did you bring all your rlown stuff from outside vendors? Did they supply anything for free or cheaper than outside vendors?

The three main issues with in-suite receptions are:

    1) If you utilize a room that is in a restricted part of the resort, whether by room key elevator access or actual posted hotel representative (like the suites tower at the Palms).  Then you have a big issue of how to get guests and vendors to and from the suite.

    2) If you make too much noise, then they 'notice' what you're doing and may ask everyone to vacate.  In most cases you get a warning, but it remains a risk.

    3) Seating and table space for eating, drinks, etc; typically there isn't enough.  Renting additional furniture can solve that issue.

Other than that, typically there is not an issue if you're using a strip resort because their lobbies are so chaotic to begin with, the staff either don't notice or don't care if they see some random people wheeling food or furniture across the lobby and into the elevators.  Most people use outside vendors with the exception of the Mandalay Bay Hospitality Suite, which has no bedroom and therefore must use their catering since they know you're having a party in it, or the Orleans Stardust Suite, since it is booked as part of an event and comes free with your catering bill.  You'll not likely ever get a better price on something from the resort over a third party.

  • @dublin25 We literally had carts and carts of heavy furniture, DJ equipment, speakers, a dance floor, catering, etc be brought up to our room with not one single complaint or anything from Mandalay Bay.  It was so easy, they obviously know this is where parties take place but they just let it happen easily!
  • @vegasgroom I did have the Mandalay Hospitality booked as well but was also afraid of the whole catering thing even though masterpiece told me they cater it easily all the time.  The week after my wedding someone had a DIY wedding reception there with Masterpiece catering and she said no problems with anything!
  • That's good to know re the hospitality suite.  I'm not sure I'd take that chance myself given that room's entire purpose is to host a party and the room agreement specifies no outside vendors, but glad to hear it's possible to pull off.

  • Most people seem to have no problems with it unless, as @vegasgroom said, it's a guarded / monitored elevator. Hospitality Suite at Mandalay Bay and the suites at the Mirage seem to let you get away with the most, but if your party is likely to be roudy-roudy, you're better booking a reception venue than a suite.

  • Hi,  I was hoping you may be able to help with my question.  I'm doing a reception at Mandalay Bay this spring in the Media Suite.  I'm trying to figure out the microphone and music situation.  Was the entertainment system okay to plug in a phone for music?  What did you do about speakers?  Use a microphone?  I would appreciate any insight.  :)
  • We are doing an in suite wedding in Sept... Haven't decided on the suite yet!!  Leaning towards the cosmo wraparound.
  • We're doing an in suite wedding in the Cosmo wraparound in May. Ceremony and drinks will be in suite and then we're doing Wicked Spoon for dinner.
  • We have the wraparound booked for Sept... We are doing the ceremony drinks and apps in the suite at sunset.  What kind of things does the wicked spoon offer? We are trying to figure out a wedding party dinner idea.
  • I love all the Cosmo posts!  We're doing wedding suite for the ceremony and Wicked Spoon for dinner in October, possibly with a cocktail hour to follow in our wraparound.

To answer the above, the Wicked Spoon has a pretty wide variety of choices served small-plate style.  When we were last there, they had a pretty nice salad/fresh veg bar with a good cheese selection, fried fish in little baskets with potatoes, a decent selection of Indian/Chinese/Thai choices, angry mac and cheese which was delicious, and a huuuuge dessert case, along with about 20 other things we sampled.  My understanding is the menu varies a little, but not much, from season to season.

Among the reasons the Wicked Spoon is nice, is they have a private dining room that can be split, to fit a group of either 20-40 or up to 80 (though I think 80 would be tight in there).  They can offer a range of décor, lighting, floral, sound system, and cake options, which can make it a nice all-inclusive option.  We've found Rose very easy to work with and reasonably quick to respond to all our questions.

  • We weren't able to book the private room at a Wicked Spoon because our date was already full, so we have a large party reservation in the main dining room. We never intended on dancing and all that sort of stuff, so that works ok for our needs. Plus we don't have to meet a specific food and beverage minimum other than based on the guest count we give them.
