Pretty holiday cookies

Any ideas on a recipe for a really pretty or fun looking holiday cookie?  I have a cookie swap on Tuesday night to go to and they have a prize for best looking cookie. . . . a blob of a boring chocolate drop cookie won last year (not that i'm bitter or anything!)

I'm competitive darn it, I want to take the best looking cookie possible.  Help me!!

Why not just do sugar cookies, get some holiday cookie cutters, and then ice them/use sprinkles to decorate? Admittedly that's a lot of effort for 6 dozen cookies BUT that's like the prettiest thing I can think of.

what about the Hershey kiss cookies? The one that i always made are a peanut butter cookie rolled in granulated sugar and then you stick a Hershey kiss on top of it when they come out of the oven. Very simple / delicious / adorable

FYI I did not read the recipes so I have no idea how hard/difficult/involved some of these are, but by the looks of them they seem not too crazy involved but still pretty.
