Alterations for bride

This might be a dumb question, but how far out should I do alterations? I don't need much.

I bought my dress in a different state, so now I am looking for a seamstress is the other problem. What are some good tips when looking for one?

Ask for recommendations on your local boards.  Look at reviews of people who do alterations if it's a business listing.  Ask at your local sewing machine store! (Pfaff, etc.)  They know who does good work in the area and may have a name for you!  Only the seamstress can answer how much time they need.  Check with your local dry cleaner as they may have someone they use!
