Finally excited about Christmas

Generally I absolutely dislike all things Christmas. Its never been a favorite holiday of mine, however my little man got to go Christmas shopping at school for the first time today. He had an assigned helper that took him into the gym and helped him pick out presents for everyone and then wrap them. I have no idea what anything is, and he is SO proud of his gifts. This makes me love Christmas, and I totally feel like a kid with how excited I am.

Just thought I would share with you all!

Re: Finally excited about Christmas

  • So cute!  I remember doing that in school.
  • Cute.      Back when I was little a department store in Texas had santa workshop setup for kids to buy for their families.   No parents allowed.  It allowed the parents to shop without the kids too.  They had a helper take you around.  We had to go through a little door for kids.

I'm sure you can't do that these days, but it was so fun getting to shop on our "own".

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.
  • Such a sweet thing for them to do! It's nice you'll be surprised :)

I'm getting excited, too. Time snuck up on me this year, whereas last year I started getting ready around Thanksgiving. Today FH went out to the storage shed and brought the decorations in and we also did a little shopping for decorations. We're having Christmas for the first time in this house (just bought in June) so it's nice to figure out how we'll get everything laid out.

We started decorating today and will continue tomorrow so I think I'll post some photos tomorrow :)

  • It was awesome. My sons best friend (they are both four) and his family are very close to me and my FI so we had a nice party today as we will both be gone around Christmas. The gifts were so amazing, and some hilarious. My son picked out a rubber dog toy for his little friend, a bar of soap for someone else, and a fabric scented rose for me. But I'll cherish that rose for a long time, because he picked it special. Tonight for sure put me in the mood for the holidays!

  • What do they do for children who don't celebrate Christmas?

  • I'm usually a curmudgeon about Christmas but I have a few traditions that I have to indulge in. I love, love, love, LOVE "A Christmas Carol", i have to watch at least 3 to 4 different versions a year. Namely, Patrick Stewart's version, Scrooged as Mickey's version. I'm a total sap with that story.

Sadly, I'm not sure if any other religious holiday is observed by my town. :(
