Fitness Check In

Alright, time to get back on this train.  I have no excuses (well, I have plenty of excuses I can come up with but no good ones) on why I'm not working out lately.  Last week was terrible and this week my gym is closed for the week but its time to get moving nonetheless.

Last week I think I did a 2 mile walk one day and a 3.5 mile walk another but that was it.  This week's plan:

Monday (today): 30 minutes on the treadmill at a gym at work.  I hate going to that gym since I run into my clients but I'm over it and need to work out.

Tuesday: I'm home with Rajah for the day so nada other than lifting him with a sling now and again to go potty.  Maybe I'll do more house cleaning too since I have to cook for the week too...didn't do it Sunday.

Wednesday: 30-45 minutes eiliptical at work gym.

Thursday: 30-45 minutes treadmill with fast walk at an incline at work gym.

Friday: Depending on the weather I might walk home (4.5 miles).

Saturday: Cleaning house more and maybe a few miles of walking.

Sunday: Rest and cooking.

What is your plan?

Re: Fitness Check In

  • @minskat30 You're doing an awesome job!

I didn't do a whole ton last week other than walking the dog, but I did do a decent job tracking everything through WW so that counts for something!

Tuesday I hope to get in a run early since that's my WFH day.

Wednesday and Thursday are going to be a bust for any outdoor workouts since it's like 100% chance of rain. I'll focus on cleaning so at least there's SOME activity in there to help meet my daily WW fitness goals.

Friday will definitely be another running day. If I'm extra good I'll run again Sunday since it'll be nice and cool again and we'll hopefully be out of this nasty humid warm streak we're in.

  • @minskat30 amazing job!! I haven't done anything productive up til now, but my new treadmill is being delivered this Friday so I can't wait to get it all set up in front of the 60" tv!

  • I didn't do anything last week since I was swollen and uncomfortable from getting my wisdom teeth out. I'm counting cleaning and sex as a workout for yesterday!

This week I need to start moving again. Not tonight since H is having a friend over at the house before they go out to the hockey game. For the rest of the week I'm going to try to do my 2 mile walk at home video to get back into it.

  • @labro - Tracking definitely counts for something...I feel like that's the hardest part!

@jenna8984 - Yeah for a new treadmill! Mine is in our basement collecting dust. We need to finish our basement completely so I go down there and use it.

@lavenderfields13 - that made me lol! Thanks for the reminder...I'll count yesterday's workout of cleaning and sex then too. ;) Good luck with the walk at home video. I'm going to do a yoga video tonight I think after work. I need to stretch in addition to working out.
  • Last week I dropped below 145 lbs... woot! But then I ate like crap all week, so I'm not sure I can say the same thing this week.

    Here's my plan:
    Monday - Crossfit (check!)
    Tuesday - Crossfit
    Wednesday - rest
    Thursday - Crossfit
    Friday - rest
    Saturday - run
    Sunday - rest?

I already have my snacks all ready for this week. That will definitely help. I am feeling good even with last week's nutritional debacle. I'm making relatively good choices and feeling stronger!

  • Way to go @cu97tiger!  You've got this!
  • Fitness question for you guys....does anyone use a fitness tracker like a FitBit or something similar?  I have a heart rate monitor but that is it.

What are the best fitness trackers out there on the market for those of you who use them?  H is giving up drinking in January both as a resolution for health and to join me and he really wants to focus on getting back to the gym too and getting healthier.  I thought a fitness tracker might be a nice present for Christmas but I'm not sure how helpful they are.  Thoughts?
  • @Swazzle Has a fitbit.  I know she and a bunch of other people use My Fitness Pal too.

  • @minskat30 - I know nothing about fitbits. Occasionally I take my phone running with me, and the SHealth app tracks my steps. If your DH is going to be doing more strength training than running, for example, I'm not sure how the fitbit would help. To me, I think it's just a flash-in-the-pan fad. But that's just me!

Ugh, this is what I was worried about.  H will be focused on strength more than cardio.  The cardio he does is mostly 10-15 minute runs before lifting so I was not sure if a fitness tracker would help with that.
  • I only made it to the gym one time last week, I think. But I re-joined WW and have been tracking all my stuffs.

    M: Nada (work party)
    T: Elliptical
W: Elliptical (dentist appointment then prepping for company)
    T: Nada (work party)
    F: Cleaning the house
S: Probably nothing, my ILs will be arriving
    S: Walking around the city

  • @CocoBellaF I put the fitbit charge HR on my Christmas wish list! Glad to hear you like it
