  • Count me in for a game also, though I may pop in and out since I'm also working up some calculations for work.

    @alpacina - Not to be a stickler or anything, but if you screwed up your BC this past weekend, you won't know for at least 10 days.... and even then you might not know for a few more days. Your normal LP is probably 11-14 days, so if you're expecting your period in a week, and you had basically unprotected sex on Saturday or Sunday, you should be in the clear. /sciencelesson

    I hope (if that's what you're hoping for) that your ute is completely unoccupied!

    Oh lord. This didn't make me less nervous, haha. I rounded to a week, but it will be 11 days between the mess-up day and when I'm supposed to get my period. And being on a 3 month cycle for my pills makes everything so random! . . Really trying not to dwell on it.

    I forget that fertility calculations are much more specific than "a week-ish".

  • @alpacina - yes to everything @cu97tiger said.  I hope your ute is vacant if that is what you want.

    @jenna8984 - Did they change their policy?  I checked my policy when I started this job and the maternity leave was (and is) dismal.  I hate maternity leave in America.  It makes my blood boil just thinking about it.

    @speakeasy14 - You are such a good sister!  That pillow looks awesome. Let me know how your sister likes it.  I don't toss too much at night but the big pillows look humongous and cumbersome.
  • @minskat30 yea it's seriously such bullshit in this country, it really is. I have no idea if they changed it since I don't even know who the original person I talked to was or if she still works there. It's so aggravating not having HR in house and having to just email random people across the country about it. Guess it's better that I asked now and can save up as much as possible.

  • @alpacina Did you take plan b? Any time I've had an "oh shit" scenario I've done that. Which is twice, ever, but still it provided some ease of mind since I knew I did not want a kid yet.

    @jenna8984 I think my work has the same policy, you have to drain your vacation and sick leave before maternity kicks in, which makes NO SENSE to me, because what if you or the baby are sick or need time for appointments after maternity leave is technically over?

    ******************************************************

  • @jenna8984 That's odd. For us - and tbh I know details just because coworker is going on mat leave as of this week - the company makes sure you're able to claim as much on mat leave as possible, then the vacation you have banked just gets cashed to pay it back. Is there a way to look further into your mat leave stuff? That sounds crazy. {side note: when you first go on unemployment insurance while on mat leave here, it can take up to 6 weeks to kick in but at least they give back-pay}
  • @wink0erin - I actually have never taken it before.

    @jenna8984 - I'm sorry I didn't respond to this earlier. I'm so sorry about your maternity leave situation! That's so crappy. I know my coworker/friend is still drained from using her vacation for maternity leave for her first child, and is now pregnant with her second child, so now she not only has to pay for daycare so her existing son doesn't lose his spot at the facility, but she has to take leave without pay for most of her maternity leave time.

  • Maternity leave in the USA is absolute garbage. I really hope it changes.

  • @wink0erin WOOHOO!! Congrats!

  • Just because this is cute:

  • @misskittydanger Yea here in the states you can't even get unemployment while you're out on maternity. Either your company decides to pay you a little like normal salary or you get nothing! It's up to your company and apparently mine doesn't pay. And you can only take 3 months off and then they can legally give your job away to someone else. It's fucking bananas.

    @alpacina holy crap that sucks so bad that she has to still do daycare to save his spot, when she's going to be home and not earning. Ugggghh wtf man

    @wink0erin wooooooooooo that's great news!!!!!!

  • @jenna8984  that's so ridiculous! In Canada you get a year. You can split that between the parents now and they can't get rid of your job. Some government positions will allow up to 5yrs off {only 1yr with pay} and when you go back you have your job. You should move here ;)

    @MissKittyDanger Too bad I despise cold weather or I'd be on my way to Canada when I have kids.
    ******************************************************

  • @wink0erin  depends where you live depends on how cold. East coast is bad for weather. West coast is pricey but idk what your price range is. I live somewhat in a valley and tbh this "winter" has been good. On xmas eve it's suppose to be +14*C {57*F for Americans}
  • @wink0erin - YES FOR MONEY!!!! Congratulations on your promotion! So exciting!

    @MissKittyDanger - I wrote a bucket list in college. One of the items is literally "Move To Canada", haha!

  • Thanks, everybody...BF is okay!  One of the attacks hit his base, but no-one was hurt.  Still, it's been a rough day all around: 6 American troops were killed near Bagram today.
  • @futuremrshistorian - That's heartbreaking. I'm glad BF is OK but I don't envy  you, I'm sure it's very stressful having a loved one in the midst of all that. HUGS.
  • @aurorarose41 whoa those shoes are glorious.

  • @jenna8984 thanks! I am so freaking excited that they are finally here. I have been waiting for them since the beginning of October. And now to get my foot healed so I can wear them by July! They are really comfortable for a pair of heels, but I might still add some ball of foot pads to them.

  • @KeptInStitches - OMG, that kitten is so freakin cute!
