Irritated.

I have an order online through Walmart, and it is supposed to be delivered tomorrow, however the website still says the order is being processed and hasn't even moved to shipped.

Customer service informed me I can call back in 5-7 business days if I haven't received it yet to re-order. Awesome.

Should have used shutterfly instead. :/

Re: Irritated.

  • That blows! I bet it's just because of the holidays; overwhelmed systems and labor, etc.

  • that sucks.

Oddly, we got everything we ordered, on time or even before schedule.  Not sure how that happened, but I will take it.   I know a lot of people who are waiting on stuff and doesn't look like they will get it on time.

I feel bad for the UPS, FedEx and Post office people.   I've seen them all delivering packages well past 10pm and our town is small.  I can't imagine what bigger towns are like.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.

Oh, I know. I've got a couple UPS friends through work, and they are constantly telling me how bad it is right now. One said she had to carefully climb over packages just to get in her truck. I don't know who delivers for my area, but with Christmas and the wedding, I've got at least 3 packages a week over the last month. I've started hanging a sign that says "Thank you UPS guy!"

I ordered a Frozen story time pillow for my niece that's sold out in stores yesterday and its already available for pick up at my closest Walmart, which is awesome. However, I ordered a photo tumbler for my FFIL that says stuff about loving Grandpa with pictures of my kiddo. He's an OOT truck driver, and is my sons best friend, and I know he will absolutely love it. So super bummed it wont be here for Christmas.

West Elm just did this to me.  I ordered 18 rose gold votives and 9 jeweled initial ornaments.  I should have all of my order by the 19th.  Today, they said I wouldn't get the rest until after Christmas.

This was my gift for our support staff so now I have to find them something else.  For all 9 of them.  Argh.

  • That is an awesome story! It sounds exactly like something me and my family would do. Thanks for the chuckle.

I hate that. I get that this is a huge shopping season, and orders are delayed. But I was supposed to receive an email if that would happen, and the customer service agent was so nonchalant about it. So now I'm debating buying another gift, or just printing off a picture and putting it in his stocking. I know he would understand, but I feel so terrible about it.

  • My friend and I both ordered things on the weekend after thanksgiving (mine from Kohls, hers from Gap).  These packages took FOREVER to get to us - we started calling them the Holy Grails.  Her shipment finally came on 12/17, and mine arrived on 12/18.  Mine was a christmas sweatshirt, so a little late in the game to get much use out of it!

I feel bad for them too. We've had deliveries on Sundays as well as some evening deliveries. The FedEx man knocked on our door a few nights ago at 9:30 pm. Scared the living daylights out of me.

  • Here at work we use UPS regularly.  For the past few weeks they pretty much never make it here before 1030am (even though we pay to have things here by that time).  They've also been a day or two late with some deliveries, which is kind of a big deal as we do real estate closings and cannot close without the docs in those packages.  Always a good time to tell someone they can't close and move into their new house because UPS didn't deliver something.

I feel bad for our driver, he says we're his first stop of the day, he sits at the distribution center for HOURS waiting for his truck to be loaded.

  • I think UPS extends their time sensitive deliveries during this time of the year. So early AM is by 10:30 and not 8:30.

Mine was too!  I asked him to search and see if the store nearest me had the items in stock, and he responded "the closest store is Milwaukee, will that work?" Milwaukee is in another state, hundreds of miles away.  Way to not look at the distance line guy!

hopefully it does arrive and the online tracking is just not updated correctly. otherwise I'd be getting that rush shipping refunded for sure
  • I ordered a big cookbook for DH's cousin and it was shipped UPS to the Post Office and then delivered. The email receipt said that it was in the mailbox. Well apparently it was too big to fit so they left it on our porch. Typically this would be fine but it was raining and it was left where it was wet. Luckily on the cover got wet and I got it dried but come on! We have a table by the door they could've sat it on, or the swing, or the chair. Plenty of options but no, they chose the floor where it was wet.

I made my grandparents a photo calendar with the pictures of each kid/grandkid/great grandkid in their birth month. I'm really excited to see what it looks like, but I'm not sure if it will get here in time for Christmas. I ordered it from Shutterfly the weekend after Thanksgiving and it still isn't here. The estimated date of arrival now says 12/24 (was initially 12/15).

ETA: the calendar arrived a few minutes ago, and it looks awesome. My new irritation is the fact that my vacuum cleaner will not turn on. Gah, I just got it back from the company because the suction wasn't working!

  • Update:

My package has shipped. On November 15th. I ordered it on December 17th. /Head Scratch.

The tracking number they provided matches two packages. One delivered on Nov 15, and one delivered 12/22. The 12/22 would be great if it wasn't for an address in Tennessee as I live in Michigan.

Back to the phones I go.
