reception venue in Nassau

I got engaged in late August and am beginning to look at venues. I want something in Nassau county.I have appointments to look at Riviera in Massapequa, Sands, and Bridgeview. Any thoughts on these or other venues that people liked?

I loved the North Ritz Club in Syosset. They didn't have my dates available though, and they were a little pricey. Westbury Manor is really nice, especially the outside. The same with the Swan Club.. the outside is beautiful.

I am getting married at the Fox Hollow.  I have been very happy with them so far and the grounds are beautiful!!  I had my engagement party at bridgeview.  It was a wonderful party & the food was delicious!!  Bridgeview is a beautiful spot esp if you are planning on getting married in the spring/summer.  I would highly recommend both.  Good luck!!

I'm getting married at the Fox Hollow in May 2010! Which room are you in?

So funny!!  We are getting married in April.  My reception is in the garden terrace room and the cocktail hour is in the colonial briar fox room.  What rooms are you in?  Are you staying at the Inn next door the night of the wedding?

Hi there! My cocktail hour is in the winter garden and my reception is in the briar fox! Yep, I'm staying at the Inn the night of the wedding. It's a great deal! Which vendors are you using? Did you choose make-up and hair yet? I'm having such a difficult time deciding these two!!

Hi!! That is so funny!  We have been so happy with the Fox Hollow so far!  For photography we are using ADA & for our dj we are using Bravora.  Who are you using? As far as hair and make up I am having my normal hair dresser do my hair and my neighbor does professional make up for weddings so I think she is going to do my make up.  Have you looked anywhere yet?

Hi again - I'm using Cassarino Studios for photography and videography and I'm using Bravura Entertainment too! :-)  I have 2 appointments coming up for hair (Hair Sculpting by Renee) and makeup (Makeup by Meadow). I'm hoping all turns out with them!! I've been "okay" with Fox Hollow for now. My banquet manager isn't the most easily approachable person (at least to me - he seems a bit standoffish at times). I'm hoping that things go well once I start having to make definite choices about things like the cake, food, etc. Are you using their flowers? I was going to have my florist add flowers to their decorations, but I heard that Fox Hollow will work with you a bit.

Hi - So funny that you are using bavora too!!  I loved them as soon as we saw them.  Are you having any live aspects added to the dj? Who is your catering manager?  Ours is very nice and has been very helpful.  Dave is our catering manager.  If you  are not already working with him, you should try to see if you can.  I think he has been great so far!! We did get a quote from thier florist, it was a bit expensive though.  We are going with blossom heath in oceanside.  I was happy b/c the florist at the Fox Hollow told us he will decorate the room for the cocktail hour weather or we use him for the rest of the wedding, so that knocked some of the price down at blossom heath.  Did you decide on who you are using for limos yet?  Are you using the perfect wedding planners for anything?

Hello again - Yes, it's a secret for my fiance, but we're having Paul - just him and his piano - play during the cocktail hour. It should be great!!! Are you adding anything? Yes, I too thought the florist quote was high; we're going with Jack and Rose. Yes, they decorate the cocktail hour and they're decorating our ceremony area, but they don't do fancy flowers or add any special colored flowers so our florist are doing that for us. Nope - no limos are needed since we're getting married at the Fox Hollow too and I'm getting ready at the Inn. I've reached out to the PWP girls a few times, but they haven't really been able to assist me. Oh well. And you? Are you using their menus? Placecards?

Hi!!Yes, we are having their jaz band at our cocktail hour and at the reception we are having Paul sing, the piano, percussionist, & saxaphone player.  Do you know who your MC is going to be?Do you know how they decorate for the cocktail hour?  I had told my florist that I didn't need any decorations, but maybe I should have them do a few pieces also?I have also reached out to the PWP a few times but they haven't really been able to help me either.  I thought I was going to go with them for invitations but they were expensive and they do not print the addresses on the envelopes.  I ended up getting my invitations at the same place that did the invitations for our engagement party.I am not using thier place cards, I am using place cards that coordinate with my invitations.  Getting them from the same place I got the invitations.  I am debating about using their menus, I would like to have menus that are personalized with our names and the date of the wedding.  Do you know if Fox Hollow personalizes them?

The Riviera is very nice, and they are priced great!  However, they say they that it can hold 200, but I would say don't use them if you have more then 180.  Definately look there though...all the weddings I have been to there have been amazing!

Hey TJEPM, I'm getting married at Giorgio's in Baiting Hollow, but I like to read most of the posts b/c I live in FLA and need sugg. for hair/florists right now. I'm using ADA too:-) Who's your photo? Mine's Big John...I met him in July at the showcase and he was great. I've been in contact w/ some florists and still shopping around for a good price. I'm waiting for someone to call me back now. However, I saw you're using Blossom Heath. Someone else recommended them too. I guess I should give them a call then. Who did you speak to there? Thanks!! Happy Planning!

Hi Lynn - That is so funny that you are using ADA.  We are using Tony.  I did want Big John but he was already booked the day of our wedding.  Tony did our engagement photos and we were really happy with them so I am sure the wedding photos will come out great too!!  I would def. give blossom heath a call.  The man I dealt with was Anthony.  He is very nice and his prices are very reasonable.  He even made a mock up of our center piece before we signed the contract and left a deposit which I thought was great.  If you need their # just let me know!  Do you know who you are using for limo's yet? Good Luck!! -Erin

Hello again -Wow! You must have had a large budget to accomodate all of those extras - congrats! :-) Yes, Paul is signing. Jim is our DJ and I cannot for the life of me think of the name of our MC. Eeks! I know how they decorate for the ceremony. I've asked about the cocktail hour, but I haven't yet received an answer. If you e-mail PWP, they can put you in touch with the on-site florist. Please let me know if you find out anything!I'm having my florist add some color to the ceremony. I'm leaving the cocktail hour decorations (whatever they may be!) as is b/c we're in there for just an hour. I'd rather focus on the centerpieces and personals.I went outside too for the invitations and I'm getting place cards from the same place as well as the menus. I've heard that you can obtain the menu template from Fox Hollow and change some things on it, but I think that it's easier to have it done through the place I'm doing the invitations - I can then "control" the color of the paper, font, etc. I did not like the place cards at all from the Fox Hollow!

Hi TJEPM, Glad to hear you were satisfied w/pics. When's your date? I"m 6-27-10. What happenned with me was I went to the showcase in July at Giorgio's and met Big John there...great guy:-) I'm using LI Sound for DJ and Amore Prod. for Videographer. As for the Limos...I'm leaving that up to Fiance's side to deal with b/c I'm getting ready at Giorgio's and could come there as early as 9am that day. I'm getting married at 5. I kept hearing Camelot and another one. Read the posts on here. Someone reallllyyyyy vented about RJ Limos and how bad they were. Yes, can you give me his #. Thanks! Someone else told me they really work with you. I'm in Suffolk Cty, but I guess that should be fine. Any rec's for hair? My good friend's doing make up.

Hi Lynn - I am getting married 4-16-2010.  Can't believe how fast time is going!!  Blossom Heath's # is (516) 766-1000.  Make sure you ask for Anthony.  He is the one who helped us and he was great!!  He gave us a very reasonable price and worked very well with us.  For my make up I am using my neighbor.  She does come to people's houses or venues and I know she goes to suffold.  If you want her # let me know.  For hair I am going to my regular hair place in Malverne, she doesn't go to houses but I could give you her # also if you want it.  Just let me know!!  Good luck with the florist!! -Erin

Thanks everyone for your input! My fiance and I looked at many venues and decided to go for Bridgeview. We really liked the different rooms and the menu!It was a toss up though between that and the Riveria- I loved the outdoors of the riveria but it was just too cramped. They had it set for 130 when we went and that looked tight. ...getting excited now!
