I have a bunch of photos from my New Years trip to Snowshoe Mountain, so I decided to make a separate post to keep the daily post free from a wall of pics.
Anyway, the day after closing on my house I packed up and went to Snowshoe Mountain, a ski resort, with BF. We stayed in a cabin with 12 other people and the views were AMAZING. Unfortunately, we were there during freakishly warm weather for this time of year, so there was no snow and it was too warm to even make snow over on the slopes, so no skiing or snowboarding.
The sunset the first night was awesome, looked like a crack in the universe.
Our friend brought his awesome dog.

Since there was no snow for snow activities, we all decided to take a hike at a place about 10 miles from the base of the mountain. The water was super clear, you could see huge trout in the water! We went down to a waterfall, and walked further down the road where the dogs enjoyed playing in the water.

Went back to the mountain for lunch, and realized they finally had the snow cannons turned on in some areas. Those things are LOUD.

We took a little walk to check out some of the views and fun things at Snowshoe before heading back to the cabin for New Years Eve festivities.

New Years Eve started out great, and then I got SUPER congested. My eyes were all irritated and I could hardly breathe out of my nose. Most the people in the cabin were partying and the noise was getting to me, so I went to the room and chilled out for a couple hours. When I came back upstairs at 11:30 I still felt awful and the noise was still getting to me, but everyone decided to walk up to the Snowshoe Village for the New Years Eve shindig that was going on. BF and I stayed behind and were able to have a quiet few minutes to watch the ball drop on TV and just sit and chill before everyone came back.

It snowed on NYE so when we woke up on January 1 we finally had the winter wonderland view. It wasn't a lot of snow, but at least there was some!

January 1 was also our 6 month-iversary of officially dating, so we got away from the cabin and had a nice dinner together alone. That night most the rest of the people in our cabin went to bed early, so a few of us played cards against humanity and had a pretty chill night.
It was a great trip, lots of awesome views. Oh, and the day we left they finally opened up some slopes for skiing. Ha!
