What's going on?

I have to go to the "boobie crushing machine" later today.  (that is what I call mammogram).

Apparently I was suppose to have it fall of 2014.   With the move and changing doctors it got missed.  (I honestly thought they told me 2 years, not 1 (last one was 2013). Oops.   I hope everything is okay.

DH just found out yesterday he has a cyst around (on?) one of his arteries in his knee.   Only the 2nd time his doctors have ever seen this before.   They at first thought it was a torn meniscus and were going to operate at the end of ski season. Now he has to find a specialist to take care of this.   It's not life threatening, but more involved then just a torn meniscus.

I swear between my mom and husband they get the craziest medical stuff that people have rarely heard of before.

Other than that it's just a normal boring snowy day.

  • Its cold. And I don't like it. Especially with a puppy who hasn't slept through the night all week.

    I hope your H heals well, @lyndausvi

I'm in a pissy mood today.  We went out for Tex-Mex instead of going to the gym and I'm regretting it this morning.  I need to get more active.  And I have (almost) nightly calls with our team in India.  Last night they were whining about us asking if we can have calls with them during their evening (our morning).  I was like, "hey assholes - my husband is sound asleep right now.  The nightly conference calls from 9:30 pm - 11:00 pm  are getting old - you guys can do it too!"

I'm looking forward to this weekend, though.  We are headed to DH's annual family reunion.  They are expecting 50 this year.  It's a nice afternoon / evening of food, white elephant, poker, and other random card games.  His cousins are awesome!
  • I'm grounded. For the next like, month. Too many games, too much money spent and too much time off work. Ticket money for next football season will be due sooner than it feels and we gotta save as much as possible for a house.

We're looking at houses #29 and 30 tonight. I hope to hell we like one because I am DONE looking.

  • I finally saw Stars Wars last night!  It was good!  H came with me, but he isn't a Star Wars fan.  So I don't really have anyone I could talk theory with afterwards!  My friends really wanted to talk about it while I was at their house NYE, but I kept shutting that down!  I didn't want to be spoiled!  I'm happy that I was able to steer away from all things Star Wars, I was pleasantly surprised at a few things.

We went on Tuesday.  It was good, not great, but good.   Of course, I will have to see the next one because, well, they are good marketers.

  • I call it the Monster Mash @lyndausvi.  Good luck!  And sorry about your H's knee.  Knee problems are the worst!

I'm working from home and not feeling well and I don't know why.  But the good side of that is my baby kitty is very cuddly and is all over me:).  One word to describe today:  Meh!

  • How's the snow out in your neck of the woods, Lynda?  We haven't seen a speck of it where I am in NJ.  H and I are thinking of heading out to Durango in mid-to-late February for some skiing.  Heard the snow is hammering out there- is it true?  I hope it stays that way through Feb then! :)

I am grounding myself. Holidays were too much this year, especially with SIL planning a really stupid Jan 2 wedding in 2 months because she didn't want people to know she's 5 months along. (also might be a twinge of jealousy because she is still freaking TINY and so so pretty lol)

I took a month off from tk this summer because a really terrible week, and then going back to work (school). I was taking a pretty pricey grad class that was only 4 days long plus a paper but it was 8 am-5:30 pm, limited breaks and obviously no absences. We had rescued this great dog 3 weeks earlier (4 year old, handsome black lab) with no problems. We just figured his owner died or something because he was so good. Nope! He had cancer and 2.5 weeks after we adopted him his spleen that had an enormous tumor wrapped around it burst and we had to put him down. I'm glad he didn't have to die in a shelter but it was just horrible.

<24 hrs later after day 2 of class I asked DH to come home from his aprents so I wouldn't have to be alone in the house (we put the dog to sleep less than 24 hours before). He says yes, 30 seconds I'm back on the phone with him screaming and crying because there is 4 inches of water in my whole first floor. The damage to the house wasn't horrible after a lot of clean up but I really did think I was going to have a mental breakdown between the class, the water and of course the dog.

Anyways.... after getting that fixed, a TON of weddings, school, the holidays DH and I are going to visit a dog we might adopt this Saturday! We have no vacations on the books and we feel we can finally relax! I'll post pics if he is a good fit and we bring him home!

Dec was above average.     We got a few more inches last night.   Expecting more tonight.

I think Durango has been getting a good amount.

H and I have now seen the new Star Wars twice - the second time in 3D, which was pretty cool. I was pleasantly surprised with how good it was (I had low expectations). Did they recycle a lot of plot devices? Sure. But I thought the story progressed well and there was humor and excitement in all the right places. DEFINITELY better than the last trilogy they made.

I am sorry your H is not a Star Wars fan, that must be hard. My H grew up watching the original three obsessively. We have been discussing our theories about the new movie endlessly since we saw it, and I am glad it's only a year and a half until the next one comes out!

Nothing new in my neck of the woods today. The ice storm has finally passed and everything is thawing out. It's supposed to stop raining this week (finally) after the wettest December on record. I am ready for the weekend.

That's one of reasons why I dread turning 40 this year.
  • My friend decided to throw a tupperware party in my honor. But not your ordinary tupperware party, this one is hosted my one of our favorite Drag Queens. So it will basically be a private show by a sarcastic hilarious broad for me and few close friends. I have been cleaning like a woman possessed. That's happening tomorrow. So excited.

  • Don't get me started on mammograms.  I skipped a few years in the early 2000's, and look where it got me!  Grit your teeth and do it!
I don't get mammograms anymore, even though I still have one breast.  I get regular MRIs and PET scans to look for more metastatic cancer.  I'm due for one at the end of the month.
Keep up with the PAP smears, too.  I had surgery for early cervical cancer way back when.  I'm glad I didn't neglect that!
Ladies, we are so lucky to have the modern medical treatments that are available today.  I was supposed to have died a year ago, according to statistics.  Well, I'm still here, and I have another grandchild on the way.  Thank you, God!  Thank you, Doctor Virgilio!

  • Crazy that the doctors have only seen this thing once before. Hope it's a quick recovery for DH and that your boob mashing goes well.

We're having some weather here in Southern California so naturally everyone is freaking out. It is worse than just a little rain (flash floods and a tornado warning yesterday). I was going to meet a friend for dinner tonight but neither of us want to be out on the roads with people who can't drive when it sprinkles so I'm staying home and happily hanging with you guys!
  • BF just informed that he the TARDIS bathrobe he ordered for me will be arriving tomorrow , it will match my TARDIS slippers. It's half a surprise present and half he wants his big warm fuzzy bathrobe that I always steal back.
