Zombie etiquette?

Yep! That's the one. I like to look through threads  before I ask a question in case someone has already asked something similar. But by searching through threads,  I'll sometimes come across ones that pique my interest, and I'll  feel compelled to give an opinion. Now I know better!!!

It's a pretty common rule all over the Internets.

While I side-eye threads that get bumped with a pile-on opinion months later, I don't really see the harm in asking a closely related question in an old thread rather than creating a new one. That might just be my aversion to clutter / a hundred separate threads on the same topic though.

I think this happens for a few reasons.

1. Random Knottie#s are on google typing up their questions and TK pops up in the search results; or
2. Lurkers like me who like to binge on various topics (I think I've read every single topic on the Etiquette board with more than 10 or so replies; usually the more replies, the more drama! hehe) and stumble over something that excites them or (in the case of SS) upsets them and so they jump in without really checking dates or thinking.

For those reasons, which are pretty innocent, I don't really care about zombies. I do see the principle behind it - usually the OP is long gone so it's sort of talking into a vacuum at that point - but it just doesn't ruffle my feathers much. Plus, a lot of TK culture is that things are there for the lurkers so bringing a post out of the past can potentially help others who may not have seen it otherwise.

I'm fairly lax on zombies, unless the wedding has occurred. If the wedding date has passed I'll close it, especially if a SS is offering up crappy advice. Otherwise I usually leave it open until it's a year old, but my board is on the slower side...you'd think P&V just by the name would draw folks in

This is true. I love when the OP states the wedding is in a week, a month, etc. and the post is REALLY old, yet people still comment.

I seriously looked at the title a few days ago and wondered "who the Hell invites zombies to their weddings?" Why else would you be asking about zombie etiquette?

I actually thought she was going to ask about a zombie costume wedding. Which you can do in Vegas.
