Happy Monday

Sort-of.  I skied a lot yesterday.  First time out this season.  My body hurts.  Getting old sucks.

DH had friends in town.  They stayed with us the last few nights.  Now they are moving to a hotel for a few more nights.  It's fun hanging out with them.

How was your weekend?

Re: Happy Monday

  • We put an offer on a house, but then found out there are other offers being written this week. UGH. I don't see this ending in our favor. We're determined to not over pay because we know we won't be staying there more than 5 years and the house needs extensive updates.

Other than that drama, I spent a lot of time laying on the couch. We're heading to Arizona on Thursday night for my next PET scan and check up, so we won't have much time to relax.

  • I didn't do much of anything this weekend.  I cleaned, did laundry, and organized our garage (still a complete mess, but a bit better then what it was). H and I took our pup on a long walk yesterday and threw the ball around for her at the in-laws.  She was a happy, exhausted, and mud covered mess afterwards.  Then I watched some of the red carpet and part of the Golden Globes before turning on Downton Abbey.

  • My weekend was great. We got our cabinets refaced last week. By the time I made it home on Friday it was completely done. Tiny AW of the before and after below ( <3<3<3!!!!!)

So, I spent Saturday morning putting the kitchen back together and cleaning. Home Depot did a great job of keeping the majority of the dust/dirt contained from the reno, but I wanted the house to look nice and clean to match the new cabinets!

Saturday night, we went to my cousin's place for some tacos and football watching. That was a blast. Sunday was church and then a loooong nap, cooking, and watching Real Housewives of Atlanta to finish the night off.

  • Had kind of a low-key weekend, as I am on a new medication which has been making me dizzy, nauseous, and super lightheaded for a couple of weeks. But I emailed my doctor this morning to let her know what is going on because I should be well past the point of getting accustomed to it.

We did finally watch Kingsman this weekend, which was great!
  • Wow, @thefanciestbeckler your new cabinets look great, and what an improvement!

@lyndausvi I booked my ski trip and can't wait! That's what the hotel spa is for... working out the post-skiing pain!

Low-key weekend for us too; we've both been sick. The clock is ticking on getting my condo ready to sell. We've been looking at new properties online. This one property appears to meet absolutely all our needs but it is on the border of a good neighborhood overlooking an old, mostly vacant project. The projects are slated to be rehabilitated into a mixed income usage area and construction could start this spring. We have our realtor investigating what the real status of the redevelopment is. While this condo could be an excellent investment if the redevelopment happens, our families and pretty much everyone we know would have collective heart attacks if we moved into a place next to the projects. (The overall neighborhood is actually statistically safer and more higher-end than the one we live in now!) Location, location, location!

  • We have the worst couch ever and I took two naps on it this weekend and now I cannot move. You think you're nice and comfy, but then a few hours after your nap - BAM you neck and back and shoulders are killing you and it hurts to move. My right shoulder is like three inches slouchier than my left. Sitting at work is terrible.

Other than that, we may or may not have found a house. It's up to H.

  • Happy Monday! I had a mellow weekend... On Saturday I was really productive - long run, long walk with the dog, grocery shopping, etc. Then yesterday, we watched football. I still cannot BELIEVE that the Seahawks pulled off that win. Or, should I say, that Blair Walsh missed what would have been a game-winning field goal for the Vikings. Luck was on our side, for sure!

I'm jealous you got to go skiing yesterday! H and I bought 5-time passes at our local mountain, but since H works Saturdays and the Seahawks played yesterday (and now next Sunday too), I am not sure when we will get up there next. But our big family ski trip to Mt. Bachelor is at the end of this month! H's uncle usually rents 3-4 condos about 15 minutes from the mountain, and family comes from CA, OR, and WA to stay for a week. We snowboard every day, and then hot tub/sauna/drink/play games every night. Cannot wait.

  • I had an up & down weekend (mostly up).

I was wiped out from a week of kidney infection + work on Friday, so H & I played a few board games & I slept.  Hard.

Saturday we went to Shiner, TX for DH's annual family reunion.  His mom's side of the family does this annually and it's insane (and fun).  His cousin owns & operates a B&B, so she shut it down for the weekend for family.  Let me put it this way .... they took a picture of the 1st cousins + spouses, and there were 20 people in it.  And not everyone was there.

They had a gift exchange (which was kind of white elephant, but new gifts).  DH & I bought this.  It made for a lot of laughs.

We ate, drank beer, played poker, and watched the game.  DH's second cousins also gamble, which is hilarious.  They have a card game they play, and about every 5 minutes or so, one of them would run into the room  to ask their parents for a dollar (I think maybe $20 was exchanged among all the kids).

DH killed me in poker, which pissed me off (and I was super PMSy, so that made things worse).  But it worked out.
  • FI switched to midnights on Saturday and attended a colleague's funeral Saturday morning so he was gone most of the day. I took our dog Bailey to Petsmart to get groomed because she was in desperate need of it and the place we normally go to is closed Saturday-Monday. Well what a mistake that was - they shaved her down to practically nothing. My mom is sewing her a pair of pants to go with her little sweater. Yesterday, mom and I went to church and I helped her get her laundry done (the dryer at my parents' house broke). We watched the Redskins v. Packers game and that's pretty much it! Pretty much the most mellow weekend we've had in a while!
