Bolder Bands

Has anyone actually ordered these? I've been obsessed with them since summer when I saw someone wearing one, but they're a little pricey. I'm happy to pay if it's something I love, but I was looking for a legit review.

My biggest question is, are they that thin jersey/spandex material? It's so hard to tell by looking. I have a Hippie Runner band that's made of that material, and it slides right off.

Re: Bolder Bands

  • I had to look them up.  Which is sad since they are a CO company.

Obviously I have not used them, but I will look for them next time I'm out.

  • Never heard of it.

  • I haven't used it, those types of bands never stay on my head. I've had the best luck with ones I had my mom make for me
  • When on the site there was free band promotion.  I signed up, but still haven't gotten anything in my inbox yet.

  • I've never heard of them, but I'd head on to youtube and see what reviewers have to say about them over there.

  • I finally got the email.    They do not give you an option of what free band you are getting, but it only cost $5 and change.   So I decided to check it out.

I will let you know what I think.

Me too. I have a narrow head so those hair bands always fall off when running. How does your mom make them for you?

It is a version of the Sweaty Bands, someone I know had a tutorial on it so my mom made some. basically just ribbon on one side and velvet ribbon on the other. This is the basic idea and you can use different sizes for what you want: http://www.holy-craft.com/2010/07/sweaty-bands-knock-off.html
  • I've never tried a bolder band but from their website they look so thick.... Idk that I would want something partially covering my ears like that while I work out

    Thanks!

@PamBeesly524, I think there are different ways to wear them. Over ears, behind ears, wide, narrow, etc.

They have different bands widths for different uses.   Some are for working out in the summer, others for fall/spring.  Then others are for winter.  Remember they are based out of CO.  Bands that cover your ears are a staple around here.

They also have different sixes,  x-small, regular, large, etc.   Even a tutorial on how to measure head.

I also have trouble with bands popping off my head, so I'm curious how these will work out.

ETA - just got word my free band has shipped.  That was fast since ordered it last night.

  • Let us know how this goes Lynda... I have had zero luck getting anything even remotely similar to these to stay on my head!

  • Thanks guys... I only looked at the site on mobile so I must have missed stuff. Interested to see how it goes for you Lynda!
  • I have a child sized head so nothing stays on; I'm trying out the small band using their free trial as well.

  • Yes, please let us know how they work out Lynda!

I know of one friend who has these- she often uses them for horseback riding. Ear + sweat band coverage, then when she's done riding, it covers up the helmet hair ;). And I believe you can move them around for nose and neck coverage, if you wanted that (again, thinking winter).

I use Bic Bands or Sweaty Bands for when I work out.  They definitely won't give you sweat wicking or ear coverage, but they are great for keeping those stray hairs out of your face and they won't slip off your head like so many other bands do.  I believe the Sweaty Bands are slightly better in quality and hold up longer then the Bic Bands.

But I would love to know if these Bolder Bands do stay in place because I need something that will actually cover my entire ear during the winter months.  A lot of the bands that I find for winter aren't wide enough and then part of my ear peeks out and gets cold.

  • @lyndausvi, did you ever get yours???
