Okay so yesterday I found the dress! I knew it was the one the second I put it on. I have absolutely no regrets! Just one thing.....

I am 5'2 and told my consultant I didn't plan on wearing heels. If I have to I will, I just want to make sure I'm as comfortable as possible on my big day. The measurement process went so quickly and I was very emotional for many reasons that I didn't realize there was never a H2H measurement taken. I went to bed stressing over it (we all go to bed stressing over something wedding related, right?

I called the boutique this afternoon and they said that my designer specifically doesn't take this measurements and it comes in a standard length. Which would be the length of the sample I tried. I made sure to say a bunch of times that I didn't plan on wearing heels, and she saw how short I was and no one ever brought this up.

I just want to make sure and be reassured with my stature that it is possible to not severely change the look of this dress even though I'm severely changing the length. I just love this dress the way it is!! Help me!!! I'm going to lose sleep over it I know it :(

Pictures are of me on the pedestal at the store.

    Beautiful dress!

If you are wearing a belt, your seamstress will be able to life the length at the waist and the seam will be covered by the belt,  It won't be cheap, but it can be done.  The other option would be to remove the lace at the bottom, shorten the dress length, and then reattach the lace on the edge.

  • Awesome! I just wanted to know it would be possible. I love the detailing at the bottom and didn't want to lose it!!!
  • Another option is to put a crinoline in the skirt of the dress which will lift the length up as well.

Gorgeous, and you look so happy in it!
  • I never thought of that! Good idea!! And thanks you :)
  • I was able to add enough length that I didn't need to hem it (I had similar scalloping on the bottom and a train). I also wore flats even though the seamstress kept asking me about my heels.

    Pretty dress!

I'm 4'11, and also ordered my lace gown in the standard length. It fit so perfectly everywhere else! I'm wearing heels, but also shared your concerns. The ladies at the boutique assured me and my mom that alteration won't dramatically change the look of the dress.  I'm not entirely sure how it's done, but they're the experts, so I'm going to trust that they know what they're doing. I'm assuming CMGragain is right, and the seamstress will lift from the waist.

  • Awesome news!! I feel better already!!

Ditto PP, also you look awesome in that dress. Congratulations, fellow short bride.

ETA: I also don't plan on wearing heels. I'm rocking the natural height.
