Gift for Father of the Groom?

I would like to get a gift for my fiance's father.  Unfortunately, he didn't come into my fiance's life until he was older.  They have a great relationship now, but everything I am looking at is "you raised such a good son" etc. which really isn't the case.  Any thoughts as to a meaningful gift?

I asked a pretty similar question before my wedding and I really liked the advice I got so I'll give it back. This wedding is about you and your fiance together (more so than any other gift giving event really) so get your parents gifts together. I know how you feel, you get caught up in the wedding industry and start finding gifts for everyone but a gift from both of you will mean a lot more. Talk to your FI and see what kind of things your FIL likes, it doesn't need to be a gimmicky typically "father of the groom" gift. We tell people to shop like it's their birthdays for Bridesmaids and Groomsmen so this shouldn't be any different. 

Also I don't think parents expect big gifts. What we ended up doing was writing a heart felt note together to each set of our parents and we gave them each a picture frame. In the note we added that we were getting them photo albums of the wedding but obviously we wouldn't have them until after the wedding. I think the heartfelt note is probably the most important part and since you're writing it it won't say anything about him raising your FI but it will be about how great their relationship is now.

Make sure the photographer takes a few photos of father and son together.  Pick the best, put it in a frame, and send it to him.
