TGIF!!!

It's a snowy/icy Friday here in MA. I have a half day today and then I'm heading up to NH with BF and my family! Tonight's dinner and tubing, tomorrow is whatever we want then maybe a sleigh ride/ ice skating and Sunday we head home! It was so much fun last year so I'm hoping for a repeat. Now I just have to get to 11:30 to head on out!

Last night I totally struggled with training for my competition. I'm doing great in a lot of areas like jump roping and some of my lifts but this competition is definitely going to be harder than I thought.

I had two labs in bed with me this morning at 4 a.m. so I've been up since then. Luckily Callie didn't wake up until 5:30.

Tonight DH's mom and stepdad are coming over for dinner. We are smoking pizza and catching up since we haven't seen them since Christmas.

Tomorrow we are having a new bed frame delivered for our guest room. So excited about that! Then I'm going to CrossFit again to train more for my comp. DH and I probably should file our taxes tomorrow before we head over to my parent's house. My little sister is babysitting while DH and I go to a Valentine's Day party. We go every year because it's with my friends from high school so I always like to catch up with them. Hopefully Callie has a good night so we can get some time alone together sans baby.

Sunday DH is working so I'll probably just relax with Callie and watch the super bowl. I may go check out some St. Patrick's decor at Michaels...maybe lol.

I've been MIA because I have been ridiculously busy at work. We've got training stuff going for a new system that we're getting in April and I've been training the new girl on my team. 

I tried to catch up on the old threads to see what has been happening with everyone.

@minskat30 Congrats on finding out it's a baby girl! I had a feeling you were having a girl and for some reason I think @CocoBellaF and @jenna8984 are having boys. @CocoBellaF I'm so sorry you are still getting sick so much

@caseface5 Have fun in NH- be careful driving up there- we're supposed to get up to 10 inches in MA throughout the day! This is the first winter that H and I have been together that we're not planning a NH ski weekend with our friends. We always rent a house and most people don't end up even leaving the house to ski/snowboard the whole weekend and just stay inside eating and drinking lol. We're trying to save money this year and honestly it's so stressful trying to make everyone happy when planning so I said fuck it.

I am SO GLAD it is FRIDAY.  I'm wearing a new shirt today that feels like spring.


We have a busy (for us) weekend planned.  I need to contact the builder of our house about the shower (my dad is sure it's mold, so... yeah.)  We are meeting up a couple people from Craigslist to buy some baby stuff.  Gotta get groceries.  I'm sure I'll fit in a nap sometime today, since I only work until 11 or so.

We want to start really cleaning out the nursery room this weekend, so I think we'll tackle that, unless we get caught up with the shower deal.  I hope we don't have to put off new floors for another year, but it's looking likely.

@lavenderfields13 Miss you!! Sucks you guys can't do a weekend away! We are going because it's my cousin's BF's family house and we get it super cheap ($25 a couple) If it were more we'd back out too I'm sure! Saving is tough!

@CocoBellaF I hope the shower issue is a quick fix and you can move on with your new floor plans. Your shirt is very springy, I love it. Only about 6 more weeks until Spring begins, yes I'm counting!

Work is just going to get busier! I still have more training to do for this system and I was picked as a "super user" so I assist in classes with others' training so a lot of my time will be taken up. Then at "go live" I will be helping people out as well. And we'll be transitioning out of the old system for a while after so It's going to be a really crazy few (more than few?) months.

@southernpeach89 - How do you smoke a pizza?  I've never done it before.  Do you have a special oven?  I think you are being hard on yourself with Crossfit and I'm sure you are doing 100x better than 99% of the population could.  You just had a baby and are already back in competition...that is a MAJOR accomplishment.

@lavenderfields13 - We miss you around these parts!!!  I hope you catch a break soon at work...sounds like a lot is on you plate.  

@cocobellaf - I want to cry for you every time you have a barf fest.  I'm so sorry this is still an issue.    Your shirt is absolutely adorable though.  What baby stuff are you buying from Craigslist?

Full day at work again today but yesterday went well with the plumbing so we are set to do drywall, mudding, taping, and maybe even some tile work this weekend!!!  I'm very happy the bulk of the plumbing is DONE.  

We also liked the daycare we went to yesterday night.  It wasn't as nice as the first one we visited so now we are wavering.  The first was was really, really, really nice (think prep school nice) and honestly about the same price as the one we saw yesterday.  Yesterday's daycare was nice too (and right by the hospital I'm giving birth at) but just a little more chaotic I guess (and a teeny bit smelly...though with all those diapers I guess they might have just had a blow-out kind of day).  Both are very secure and clean, both have the same staff to infant ratio, both are friendly and both are pretty much the same price.  The only thing I LOVE about yesterday's daycare was the location.  I might be able to swing the occasional lunch trip to the daycare during my lunch break to breastfeed.  I couldn't do that with the first location we saw.  So now we are leaning towards the daycare from yesterday for the first year of baby's life and potential lunch visits/breastfeeding and then switching to the nicer, further away daycare after year one for educational reasons.  Any thoughts/ideas/things I'm not thinking of?

Weekend here will be full of construction in the bathroom and cleaning.  We will likely watch the Superbowl too.

@minskat30 - We are buying a video baby monitor set (in the box) for $50 instead of $130 in the store, looking at a Moby wrap for $10 and an Ergo + infant insert for $50.  Lots of Craigslist-ing!

@minskat30 Well....the first time we smoked a pizza, we totally burned it in 0.2 seconds haha. It turns out that it required this special pizza stone attachment and some other gadgets that would go inside our smoker. So DH bought those a while back and is going to try them out tonight. I'll have the local pizza delivery on hold while this is going on haha.

I'm definitely being hard on myself but since we are on a team I just feel like I might be putting us at a disadvantage. Granted they sought me out for this and asked me to be on the team so it's kind of their fault since I agreed to it after lots of persuasion lol but I'm doing the best I can and that's all they should expect of me. I'm just super competitive so it's hard when I see myself struggling at things I used to be able to do really well.

Ooooh, nice!  Good price on the monitor!  H's new business he is starting in India is in security devices so we are rigging our house up with monitors everywhere I feel.  Its pointless really since Raj will bark the second baby wakes up I'm sure and there is no better monitor than him.    

How did you decide on Moby/Ergo vs the other brands out there?  Word of mouth?  

I've been on the watch for a dresser I can use as a changing table too as well as a rocker/glider chair and ottoman on Craigslist.  No luck yet for what I'm looking for but it is fun to keep an eye out for those things.

@southernpeach89 - Ha!  Having the pizza place on stand-by sounds like a good idea.    And you need to cut yourself a break.  They sought you out because you rock and you care about them.  They know you aren't at peak form...and for goodness sake, you shouldn't be so soon after having Callie.  You are going to do great, your team is going to be proud of you and we are proud of you for getting right back on the Crossfit train!

Last night we ended up going to the speakeasy for dinner.  As usual the food was amazing.  I had a kobe beef burger with sweet potato chips and my bf had scallops with butternut squash.  We ended up sharing because his plate was really small.  So I got a flourless chocolate peanut butter cake for dessert.  We also had amazing speakeasy bourbon drinks.  It was packed and there was a banjo band playing.  The one guy was probably late 80s/90s and he came in with his wife.  She sat at the table next to us and it made my ice heart melt to watch her watch her husband play.

Tonight will probably be a relaxing night.  Tomorrow will be a deep cleaning day.  We're supposed to go to a wine and paint night, but we haven't paid for admission yet and it's a private event, so we'll see if that happens.  Sunday we'll end up at someone's house for the superbowl.

Oh and today is my niece's first birthday.  Hopefully I'll get to see her at some point this weekend so I can kiss and snuggle her.  Poor baby has horrible eczema so she's been miserable the past few times I've visited. I need to figure out a gift for her still.  They have so many clothes and toys, so I want something different.

I'm waiting to find out boy/girl before looking for furniture, but it won't be long now!!!

I talked with the people at the builders for our home.  I played the angry pregnant lady living in a house with black mold because the shower was installed incorrectly card, and the director of Warranties and Customer Care is personally coming to look at it today at 11:30.  I said, "I absolutely can not live in a house with black mold and this baby is coming in the summer so this needs to be fixed NOW."  Muahahahahahahahaha.

Oh I forgot to mention I'm getting a bit of baby fever. Last week H told me one of his work friends is having a baby. Him and his GF were NOT planning on that right now and apparently she was on the pill so it was a complete surprise but the guy seems really excited about it which is cute. Lately I have been getting so freaked out by the idea of having a baby but for some reason the day he told me this I was driving home from work, thinking about this couple and I was just like "We should have a baby". I told H this when I got home and he was like "you're nuts, not now". 
He's right, it's not the right time but I'm all "If we're gonna do it we need to just do it!" lol

Not much last night. Groceries. I was under budget for that, which is my absolute favourite thing
Only need to pick up sun screen and bug spray. I've given up on attempting to buy myself another pair of shorts, so unless when we go do the exchange on money I find a pair I'll just deal with what I have. I do need to buy a pair once it's summer though ....

I finally got the lady-balls to talk to my boss about doing a course to essentially "go up a level" at work. It's not that my boss is scary {I actually adore my coworkers} It's mainly anxiety and knowing I need to perfect things I'm doing now before over loading myself with more.
Tbh her response was good. She understands why I wanna wait and isn't surprised I want to do it, but she has to talk to the partners about it and doesn't see it as being an issue though.

Sounds crazy, but it was really hard to do that. I'm glad I did though.

Tonight is probably relaxing since Saturday is busy. Matt donates blood and has an appointment early, then we're going to see 2 houses and that night we're going to a buddy's place for a bday party.
I can't drink so I'll likely bring tea in my new thermos. I'm that person lol

Sunday I have a pedicure scheduled and I wanna see the half-time show for the Superbowl. Otherwise we're cleaning. Bathroom needs to be done desperately

@minskat30 Aw thank you. You definitely know how to make a girl feel better. I'll be proud of myself no matter what because I did it but for all I know by the time I'm back to my normal pace...we will be ready for baby #2 and then the freaking process starts all over.

@MissKittyDanger - I'm taking Diclegis and I have Rx for Zofran and Phenergan.  That's about the best we can do!  I'm gaining the appropriate amount of weight, so baby isn't suffering, just me.

Yay Friday!!! I'm so ready for a break from work. Yesterday I was working with one of those people who always thinks everything is URGENT! So needless to say, she called my 3 times and emailed me 10 times. Even after I told her I had other deadlines to meet (and what we were working on was NOT a priority). I felt pretty stabby after work yesterday. Hoping today is calmer.
Tonight H and I are having dinner and frozen yogurt with my brother. I haven't seen the kid in awhile so I'm looking forward to catching up!
Saturday I'm having brunch and getting a mani with my BFF. She got a new job so she'll be moving to Austin soon (with makes me both sad and jealous bc I love Austin!). Sunday H told me he wanted us to have a day of fun with no responsibilities. I'm all over that. He mentioned getting fancy coffee and going downtown to a museum or something for the day. Then I'm sure we'll watch the Super Bowl, even though we don't really care about either team.

@caseface - That sounds like so much fun! Have a blast!
@southernpeach89 - Sounds like a fun weekend. There is nothing more exciting than getting new furniture! We have a dining table arriving in the next few weeks and I can barely wait!
@lavenderfields13 - Ugh, I know what you mean about trying to plan group getaways. I always thought once we all got older people would be more responsible/reliable but that isn't the case (at least with our friends).
@Cocobellaf - I love that print! I'm definitely ready for spring (and daylight savings time!). I'm tired of it getting dark at 5:30 everyday.
@minskat30 - I like your plan for the multiple daycares. Makes sense!

@cocobellaf - I've definitely used the pregnancy card on a few occasions.    Especially with the plumbers we had come in to give us quotes.

@southernpeach89 everything @minskat30 said. Keep reminding yourself that you had major surgery and your body is still healing so things that used to be easy won't be until your body is ready. Like I said yesterday, the fact that you're able to lift at all after just a few months after a c-section is incredible on its own. 

@cocobellaf ROAR!!! I hope they also work that fast to fix and replace it!

@cocobellaf & @minskat30 & @jenna8984 see if there are facebook yard sale groups in your area.  My sister has been finding a lot of things for Emmy through those.

@southernpeach89 did you make request that your family get the whooping cough vaccine to be around Callie?  My sister just sent the whole family a message saying doctors orders that we had to get it.  I've never had to before, so wondering if this is something new.

FINALLY FRIDAY!! Guys, I want to sleep all weekend. So tired. I don't know what my problem is. 

Tonight BF will probably come over since he is leaving town in the morning to visit his brother and cousins in NC. Then I will be super productive and clean my whole house (which means, sleep late, drink coffee for 2 hours while watching tv, and maybe pick up two things and call it a day). Saturday night I am meeting up with my local BFF to go to a symphony concert. We will probably grab snack/bevs before the show. 

Last night I had planned to be productive, but yet again it escaped me. A game I had ordered came in so I tested it out, which led to me realizing how tired I am, which led to me ordering pizza and watching Downton Abbey all evening. I love the characters on that show. 

Right before I headed to bed I decided to throw my leftover pizza crusts outside for random neighborhood animals to eat. I opened my window and tossed the crusts, looked up, and realized I had tossed them right in front of a deer. Deer kind of gave me a "wtf dude" look and ate all the crusts, and I looked around and realized there were 5 deer hanging out in my yard. While I was admiring the fact I was SO CLOSE to so many deer I heard a godawful noise a little down the road that sounded like animals fighting. I assumed raccoons once I realized no cat could make that sound, and sure enough upon googling "raccoon fight" I found a youtube video and that was the exact sound. 

So basically I need to train the neighborhood wildlife so I can finally become a Disney princess.

@CocoBellaF Pulling "I'm pregnant, fix this now" is completely justified in this case. 
@lavenderfields13 I'm kind of in the camp where sure, you should make sure some things are stable before planning to have a baby, but some things are NEVER "perfect." I don't know exactly what makes your H think now is a bad time, but if it's important to you and the feeling persists, definitely talk it out more.  
@beachyone15 I love that your H suggested a day of fun, that sounds great!

@minskat30 Which daycare's staff gave you a better vibe? Or did they both seem equally friendly/attentive? Also, would you be able to do any searches on Westlaw to see if there are any lawsuits against either of the daycares? I know Westlaw is outrageously expensive, so I don't know how feasible it is to do some personal searches without billing everything to a client. Just an idea!
@speakeasy14 My nieces and nephews all have tons of clothes and toys too, so I've started getting books for them. How old is your niece?
@beachyone15 Sounds like you have an excuse to take frequent weekend trips to Austin Speaking of Austin, my H and I are going to be in Austin the last weekend in February to see some of my family there. Maybe we could grab lunch or have drinks one day? You're in SA, right? Or am I crazy?

FRIDAY!!!!!!!!!!


We have nothing planned this weekend except packing, packing, and more packing. With some working out and some quilting thrown in for good measure.

I finally got off  my lazy bum last night and went to the gym! It felt so good to be back to a normal, healthy routine. Afterwards I picked up Zoey from doggie day camp, and she promptly passed the eff out in her crate. I ordered spring rolls and chicken teriyaki from one of my favorite Japanese places, and I watched the first episode of Making a Murderer. H came home around 9, and we played with Zoey a bit until I went to bed at 10. I read Dark Places for about an hour before calling it a night.

Thrilling, no?

Next week I'm in the office Monday and Tuesday, I work from home Wednesday, and then on Thursday we move! I've taken Thursday and Friday off for the move, and the following Monday is President's Day, which is a paid holiday at my company.  It's going to be an awesome week.

@eilis1228 - WTG on making it to the gym!!!  Your week next week sounds awesome and I am jealous.  Thank you for the suggestions...I am planning on looking up each daycare's records with the state.  I got the better vibe from the first daycare but they were also SO OVER THE TOP nice that it felt a little forced.  The second daycare felt a little more realistic.  The kids at both daycares were friendly when we came into each room and I witnessed several giving random hugs to the adults that were watching the kids (though the hugs from kiddos were more abundant to the workers in the first daycare).  I'm thinking all of this is important but maybe not as important as me being close to the daycare I choose?  Ugh, decisions, decisions

 @eilis1228 she's 1 today! She also has an older sister who I've bought a gazillion books for so other than the ones they ate, there really isn't any bookshelf space haha.  I may get her a bunch of shoes since she's a walking machine now.  Your week next week sounds awesome, enjoy it!!


Sooooo I just decided on a brilliant gift for my bf for his birthday in May.... but it means that everyone going to Chicago is going to be very mad at me.  He really misses his brother and we keep talking about going to Texas, but have never made any plans.  So I'm going to surprise him with a trip for Memorial Day week.  If I do this, I definitely will not be able to swing Chicago in April.

@wink0erin I definitely agree that it will never be the "perfect" time. Right now we are living in apartment and our cluttered spare room is no place for a baby.

Our lease is up at the end of August and I told H there is absolutely no way we're considering renewing it because I am DONE with renting and we both want our own home so bad so we want to be in a new house or in the processing of closing on one by then. But he is definitely not ready for a baby because we don't exactly know where we're going to be living which I think is completely understandable. I'm thinking that once we have a good idea of what we're doing house wise and if I'm still feeling this way then I will revisit the conversation then.

I also get stressed thinking about what we'll do with a potential baby once I have to go back to work because we cannot afford for one of us to stay home and day care prices are insane!

@speakeasy14 I didn't "force" them to go get a shot before they met Callie but I told them that they all needed to go get it as soon as they could.

Whooping cough is one of those things that infants are extremely vulnerable to in their early weeks before they receive their first set of vaccines and it is extremely dangerous if they get it. So I did not want anyone that would be seeing Callie often to potentially give that to her without her being protected from it.
