Need help finding wedding day bra or corset

So I had bought a very nice corset from the Victoria's Secret "I Do" collection last summer to wear on my wedding day that gives me the shape and the lift I like.  The problem is, it has very light aqua blue details on it and my seamstress thinks it will show through my dress.  She suggested I get a nude corset or longline bra that is strapless and low back.  The problem is there aren't many to try on in stores and the 2 I did try on did nothing to enhance my cleavage, despite being push-up and/or padded.  I need all the help I can get because I have a smaller bust and my dress has a deep V-neck/plunge neckline.  Would you all have any recommendations for some stores or brands to purchase a new corset from?  Or do you think I should try to find a nude slip to wear over the corset I already have and see if that will fix the problem?

  • Have you tried it on with your dress to know for sure the one you have won't work?

This!!!  Unless you've got one of those sheer style of dresses, chances are it won't show through...  If anything, I'd see if VS offers it in a plain white.  Also, depending on your skin tone, nude can actually show up more than what you've got might.  It's all dependent upon your dress, but you shouldn't be getting any alterations done on the dress if you aren't wearing the exact undergarments you plan to wear the day-of.  Try the dress on with the one you have and take pictures both with and without the flash from different angles, if it doesn't show up, you're fine!
  • Do you have a low back dress? If not I can't see why you would need a longline bra. I agree with @MesmrEwe  above, try it on with the dress and see if it shows through. I would think unless you have a sheer dress small detailing on the bra is unlikely to show through.

My seamstress said to find the bra that gives you the shape and lift that you love before having major alterations. Different bras are going to give you different shapes so you don't want to start altering with one and then switch to another.

I actually bought a long line, low cut corset from Alfred Angelo even though I didn't purchase my dress there. It was very sturdy and gave me a lot of support that I needed. I had a low cut, illusion back dress and it worked great.
  • Yes, I tried it on with the dress at the first fitting.  My dress has sheer lace details close to the neckline and on the back.  I think once the shoulders are taken up in the dress (as needed) the corset will no longer show through.  I guess I'll see again at my second fitting.  I'm planning on bringing a slip too just in case because at this point I'm determined to wear the corset I already bought!  I even considered cutting off the light aqua lace on the bra cups so it would only be white.
