Why anyone would have signs carried in at the ceremony is beyond me!  I have never seen it done, and, frankly, I hope I never do.  You are probably too young to remember Burma Shave signs.  Please have a dignified wedding ceremony.

I had no ring bearer or flower girl.  You just process as you normally would without these people.

Have your bridesmaids wear sandwich boards? That's what the whole "having small children carry signs to state the obvious" equates to in my opinion.

We didn't have children in our wedding. Even if we did, I never would have had them carry signs.

I know a lot of stupid people, but I don't think I know anyone that couldn't figure out that the woman in the big white dress coming up the aisle at a wedding is the bride.

We didn't have flower girls or a ring bearer. When it was time, my girls walked up the isle, then the music changed which was the "announcement" that I was coming down the isle. For exiting, we had music played & we just exited followed by our wedding party & then the parents.

I've never been to a wedding that had signs. All the flower girls and ring bearers (including my own) carried flowers and rings - hence the titles.

Exactly.  Even if the change in music does not include the ever obvious "Here Comes the Bride" selection, it is typically dramatic enough to garner attention.  I think the officiant announcing, "I now pronounce......" is equally an obvious signal that the ceremony has concluded and that this couple is now happy.

I follow a few wedding boards on Pinterest, and these types of pins pop up all the time. Personally, I'm not a fan, but you could have your BMs carry signs "announcing" your descent down the aisle.

I think you have to hire child models to be your ring bearers and flower girls.  I don't think your marriage will be valid unless you have well dressed children holding signs that announce your arrival to the venue.  Contact a modeling agency ASAP and ask them to send you CVs and headshots of potential candidates.

I don't know guys, I just walked down the aisle while my guests stood around mingling and chatting and everyone missed our ceremony. Whoops. Shoulda had signs.

My ring bearer is carrying a watering can. It's a little cutesy but goes with the vibe of the event. My nephew asked to be my ring bearer so I feel no qualms at including him.

I'm a big wedding sign-hater. 'Just wait till you see her'. PUKE. The signs that say, 'and they lived happily ever after' really piss me off in particular. First I suppose because I see them 'pinned' more and more often recently and it makes me wonder if people genuinely think that marriage is about being 'happily ever after' as opposed to a partnership that will hopefully enable you to support one another through the bad times too. And probably more importantly because I'm a pedant and these signs are being held up literally ten minutes after the couple get married. You can't retrospectively say that they lived happily ever after, they haven't done it yet. Argh.

Whenever I read or hear about signs at weddings, I'm reminded of those cue cards in the first Shrek movie.

I was at a wedding where a sign was carried and in the moment, it was cute. I think it was mostly cute because the kid ran all the way down the aisle and then when he got to the end and realized that he had gone too fast, start to go back up the aisle at a slightly slower pace. Pinterest has certainly elevated the idea to being something that couples might see and be interested in, but it doesn't have to be done. It is a detail that most people won't remember and you might be able to put that money into something that they will remember (food and drinks). Good luck!

Often there is a change in the music- first to announce the start of the processional, and then a different song to announce the arrival of the Bride. Music usually starts again to announce the recessional. 

Or, the officiant may announce "please be seated"... "please stand for the arrival of the bride".... "I now pronounce Mr. and Mrs. Smith as husband and wife"....
