The Fox Hollow

I am interested in looking at the fox hollow. Has anyone had their wedding there? Any advice, suggestions are appreciated :-)

I am looking to get married on a Friday or Saturday night in October 2014. Approximately 150 guests.

Re: The Fox Hollow

  • have seen a ton of weddings there. no complaints. great place, great staff, good food.
  • Thank you! Do you have any other location suggestions?

I got married at the Fox Hollow in April 2011. I absolutely loved it. Everyone was helpful and the food was great. It also has a nice, cozy atmosphere. I was also impressed with the menu that comes with the basic package. Everywhere else I looked at had to be upgraded to get the same food.
  • Thank you so much for sharing your experience! Was the price reasonable?
  • i've been to many events there. i'm not much of a fan. it's not that anythign went badly but there were some consistant issues-the cocktail hour outside is very small and tough if there's a lotof guests as there's onyl 2 small bars and bartenders at either end, shared bathrooms with other parties with lines, valet line is lenghty at end of the night especially if other parties are letting out as well, more than one event at a time, i've been skipped over for courses if i wasn't in my seat.

Thank you for your feedback! If you don't mind me asking, where did you have your wedding? I am really interested in looking around at quite a few places to determine which fits our needs best. I am also on a budget...

    Thanks again :-)

I have been a bridesmaid at two weddings that were held at Fox Hollow.  Both weddings were nice, and the Scotto brothers definitely know what they are doing but I wouldnt say its the type of place that is going to blow anyone away at how amazing it is.  It has a little bit of a wedding factory feel and like a previous poster mentioned it can get very chaotic with more than one event at a time.  That being said the food is decent, the bridal suite was nice both times and the service was good.  I dont think it would be a bad choice, but if you are looking for something wow or different I don't think its your best option.  Hope that helps, good luck with your search! <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-laughing.gif" border="0" alt="Laughing" title="Laughing" />

To each her own but I disagree with this. FH is amazing... Great prices for things included that youd have to pay extra for at other places.

Thank you!! I made an appointment for this Saturday. I am excited to check out the place and see what is included. I'm looking to get married in October, so I hear the pricing may be a bit better than a summer wedding? I'm not sure if that is just a myth or if pricing depends on the month...

As you can tell...I am new to all this! :)

youre welcome. we had our reception at the harbor club on huntington harbor. it had a few things that we were really looking for-ont he water, great outside area on the water, one event at a time, a lesser known place and outstanding food.

I think no matter where you book, a summer wedding will always be more money than the fall. People generally want to get married when it's warm out so they can use the outside area. Friday nights, holidays and Sunday nights tend to be cheaper than Saturday nights and daytimes are cheaper than nighttimes.

    good luck!

  • My wedding was April 8th, 2011 and it was a Friday night. It was $75/pp. I never saw the other bride and knew there was another wedding there that night. We had the cocktail hour in the Briar Fox room and it was a little short on seating, but that was really the only negative. I did not add anything to my package there either and felt that there were still plenty of options for everyone. From waht I understand the 'season' is from mid April to early November although the fall should be less expensive than the summer months. I got so many complements on the Fox Hollow.

Your post makes me excited to see the venue this Saturday:) Did the 75/pp include open bar? Also, did you have sit down style or buffet, continuous cocktail? Thank you for sharing!
  • I went to a wedding there in March and it was nice, though not very personalized. There was a definite wedding factory vibe and while I do understand it was quite affordable it wasn't anything that I will remember for years to come. There were multiple weddings going on at the same time (and this was Saturday afternoon) and while I think we had the restroom all to ourselves, we were shuffled in and out of two rooms a few times (waiting around before the ceremony in room 1, into main space for ceremony, back to room 1 for cocktail hour, back to main space for dinner). It also wasn't clear where to go when you came in and you had to ask a sort of receptionist. Then it was unclear where to put presents.

Other things: - one of the bartenders was incredibly rude. Before the event was really started he was unhappy at having to give people glasses of water. During the event he felt that because he was the only one with a blender the other bartender wasn't doing enough work since everyone wanted Pina Colodas (of which he made a FANTASTIC pina coloda). The rest of the waitstaff was very nice, though one of the waiters was VERY young - only about 15 years old.

Cocktail hour - good food. Large selection of lots of things and the quality was good. The only head scratcher there was the selection of seafood still in the shell. Like crab legs. They just gave it to you and you had no way of getting the meat out, so you just had to throw the uneaten crab away. There were also not enough chairs so a lot of people stood around confused at how to eat their plate of food and hold a drink at the same time.

The food selection was vast - I remember about 10 choices for dinner. I had the duck which was dry and overcooked. I heard that the steak was good. The wedding cake that came with the wedding was just awful and most people didn't eat it. The challah was also dry. The wedge salad was very good. They did keep wine on the tables at all times. There was a little chocolate shot bar at the end which people seemed to like.

Afterwards we went into the hotel part and got a drink at the bar there - over $10 for a mixed drink which was definitely over priced. We left shortly after that, though the hotel rooms did look very nice.

If you want a wedding with little personality but pretty standard fare for a Long Island wedding, I'd say go look into it. The bride and groom enjoyed it and think that the wedding was a total success, but it isn't the place for me to have my wedding.
  • There were seven dinner choices which was awesome. No one had to choose ahead of time either. I paid $75/pp and it did include open bar all night and during cocktail hour and It was all sit down with I can't even remember how many courses. I did not have my ceremony there, so I can not speak for that but I loved my experience as a bride. The hotel was wonderful too. I had my room block there and got my room for free that night plus an extra room free because I had over 10 rooms booked in the block. It was a nice gesture because my BM from out of state was getting married a couple weeks later and wouldnt have been able to afford to stay so I was able to extend the extra room to her. We left for our HM very early the next morning and I still had my dress and my H's tux with us and other things as well. I was able to leave it all wtih the desk with out a question and my BIL who also stayed took it all home with him in the morning. The hotel is considered a luxury hotel. All of the rooms are considered suites.

I think there could be a wedding factory vibe, but it is a super well polished place. Like I said, I never even saw the other bride. Each side has it's own courtyard for pictures/ outside cocktail hour/ smokers. They were also doing construction when I got married and I brought it up as a concern because from the outside it looked like a disaster construction zone. When I did mention it, they told me they took the scaffoldings down and cleaned up every friday morning and kept it down for the weekend and resumed work on Mondays. They were true to their word. I would have had a coniption over that! It made me feel very confident in them.
  • Not sure if it is too far out east but I was stuck between fox hollow and east wind.. Ended up going with East Wind - Felt the dance floor was too small at Fox Hollow - East Wind is gorgeous and prices were in the $60's before tax and tip..  Also same amount of food if not more then Fox Hollow.. Good Luck!

The dance floor in the garden terrace room is huge. You probably looked at one of the smaller rooms.

  • i just checked out the fox hollow last week. the new room is nice, they are renovating more too, but i felt like it had no soul. and the dancefloor is in front of all the tables so people sitting int he back cant see the action. the old room i knew i def did not like right away- its old and farty. if u plan on doing your outdoor ceremony here- u can only use that farty room. the ceremony spot is in front of the bldg so u can hear the cars. they gave us a price of $90 i think? for a fri wedding. which isnt bad. and they give u a free night at the inn next door. i passed on it though. going to go with westbury manor. luved it there!

Were you responsible for filling a certain % of the rooms?

  • I'm getting married at Fox Hollow on a Friday night in June 2013. pricing was $85pp. and I'm also doing my ceremony there. I went to crest hollow and I loved it but there I felt that wedding factory feel. which I did not feel at Fox Hollow. I also went to Woodbury country club and it was also nice but I did not like the outdoor ceremony space. it was not for us. Fox hollow also gives you your wedding night free in the hotel and if your guest book 10 or more rooms you get another night free which  I will be using the night before my wedding day to stay with my girls.
