FB Shennanigans (I kept my mouth shut through all of it):

Of note: I am the only person who has had a full time job/income for the past 4 years.  So basically, everything in that goddamn house is mine if I wanted to claim it, b/c my income probably purchased it.

I move out while he's visiting his parents for 2 weeks in AZ for reasons.  FB posts start about how I've probably taken everything in the house, leaving him destitute.  Also, how I've abandoned our cats to die alone, locked in the house. *eyeroll*

When he gets back:  his parents start sending him boxes, "replacing the things that were stolen".  Like, bedding and sheets, knives, and towels.  None of these things I took from said house.   Oh, eventually a stand mixer -- I did take that.

He comments that he needs to put security cameras up to "make sure no one comes to take more of my stuff."  He has all keys to the house at this time.

He post the new receiver and TV someone gave him.  "I'm slowly replacing what was taken."  Um, part of our issue was that you sat on your computer in the back room playing video games all day.  WTF do you need the TV for?  And if you're so damn destitute of stuff, why the big deal over a RECEIVER.  #FWP indeed

The best one and the one that almost broke me:  "Does anyone have a spare umbrella I could use?  It seems that I've lost the one I have.  It's so exhausting, finding out that I no longer own the things that I used to."  We had ONE umbrella and it just happened to be in my car.  I nearly went and chucked it onto the front lawn.  Then, evil friends made plans to go "plant" dozens of umbrellas in the lawn.  Eventually, a picture was taken of me holding like 4 umbrellas, with the hashtag #umbrellathief under it and shared among friends.  Also, he returned a bag of stuff I had missed to me.  There was a #$%^&*! umbrella in it.  I laughed so hard, I cried.

Also I had some moments that were great:

I bought all new bathroom stuff: towels, shower curtain, etc.  It was all stuff I liked and wanted, I did not have to consider another person's likes.

I was in Sephora and gleefully realized I could buy ALL THE NAIL POLISH and not have someone tell me it was stupid.

I went to JCPenney's and bought 3 new pairs of shoes on clearance and didn't come home to someone telling me that I had enough shoes.

And getting some physical affection and sex has been really damn good.  I'll just leave that at that.  ;)

Re: FB Shennanigans

  • even when BFF roomies part ways, there's still "hey, who owns/took the collection of Oscar Wilde stories (<yup. I had to mail them to new york because I accidentally stole them) and Douglas Adams books (<I stole those and still have them.  whoops), and who owns te curtain rods?"

YAY for toenail polish under new shoes :)
  • As one of my friends put it, "You're divorcing.  You don't get to keep all of your stuff."

Also, I really didn't take anything much.  I left 95% of the stuff in that house.  His life didn't have to change one iota except that he had to start taking care of himself.  I hesitated over 2 things:  One was the TV and PS3.  I was the only one who watched any television at all so I took it (and the Hulu and Netflix accounts).  So, I took it.  The other was the new backpacking tent.  We had just upgraded the backpacking tent....with my Christmas bonus.  So I took that too.
The friends who helped me move were actually very angry about the FB shennanigans.  I had to talk 2 of them down from posting angry replies to him that they knew what I had taken and what I hadn't and inviting him to STFU.  After that, I blocked him and told people to stop sending me screenshots, b/c it was getting under my skin.  Eventually this stopped; I think someone told him he needed to STFU about these things on social media.
