Friday Wedding Time

Hello, I am planning a wedding for March 3, 2017. It will be in South Texas and hopefully outside.. one small catch this is a Friday date... I am completely aware that Friday weddings are not ideal, but it works for my FI and I, and our extended families who will be traveling in from out of state.. I have looked up sunset for 3/3/2017 and it is said to be at 6:16pm ... any suggestions on when would be a good time to start the ceremony?

TIA

Re: Friday Wedding Time

  • 6pm. You'll still have light left, even with sunset at quarter after six. I also assume since this is outdoors, it is not a traditional full mass, so it won't take an hour.

Better to start later with Friday weddings. Gives those who are local a bit more time to get their from work/ take less time off.

One of my friends got married on a Friday. DH and I were in town visiting so we were already "off"- time wasn't an issue for us. We did tell our other two friends we'd pick them up, and my friend is a teacher, thus no PTO. By the time she got home and changed, we made it minutes before the processional started. There was a handful of other guests who came late- during the ceremony. They stood at the back of the room so not to be distracting, but still- if you can give your guests more time to get there, do it :).
  • Thank you so much! We want it to be outside but do want to be considerate of the guest. We weren't sure if 5:30 would be too early or if 6 was just a better all around time. We have several VIP we are waiting to hear back from to see if 6 pm would even work... if not we will be pushing it into the dark to have those special people present
  • With South Texas in March, just make sure you have a rain plan, or a it's 95 degrees outside plan.

  • Oh yeah !! We are have an indoor/ outdoor option already lined up.. because Texas weather is never predictable
  • Always wise to check with your VIPs.

If you can push it a bit later, even better! Of course as long as your guests can still see you ;)
