Can the bride wear a bright red dress to the reception?

I am the bride, and I'm getting married in the traditional white dress. I will also be wearing the white dress throughout dinner and for a few of the first dances. However, afterwards I would like to change into something sexy (but not slutty) that will stand out on the dance floor (I am the bride after all). I found a curve-hugging wiggle dress that goes to my knees and off-the-shoulder sleeves. It's sexy in a classical way. Can I wear this to my wedding when it's time to dance?

You can wear whatever you want.  I highly recommend you change your user name to something other than your last names.

What if someone wears a red dress, even a sexy form fitting red dress, to your wedding? Will you still stand out the way you want? I'd wear the white dress all day. But yes, you can wear whatever you want.
  • You think a red dress will stand out more than a bridal gown? Hmmmm....ok. Wear whatever you want, but your reason makes me want a margarita.
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

  • You can wear whatever you want. Put on a potato sack to dance if you want. But changing OUT of a wedding dress to "stand out" on the dance floor seems really bizarre to me.
  • To me, this would be no different than someone changing into a white reception dress ... just a different colour. I personally wouldn't want two dresses and not at all a red one, but you certainly could change and wear red if you wanted. If you choose to do it, be confident and comfortable in your decision as you may have some that don't understand your choice.
  • Sure you can though I think you're less likely to stand out in a red dress another guest could wear vs a wedding dress!!
  • Wear the red dress for the Rehearsal...  You're the bride - if you question your ability to stand out on your wedding night "Duh! Big white dress!"..  Yes, you can wear the red one, but really, I think a lot of people would be disappointed by you changing...
  • You will stand out more in your wedding dress than you ever will in a red dress. Do whatever you want, but I don't think your plan will get you the results you're looking for.
