TK Wedding Gift Purchase Reminder?!?!

After RSVPing to a friend's wedding on her TK wedding website, I received an email with a wedding gift purchase reminder! Obviously it was automatic, but is there a way to turn this off? I used TK for my site years ago and have recommended it, but can no longer unless it's a chosen option. Do you choose that when making the site?

My site is not through The Knot so I'm not sure. I'd try posting this in the technical support board; first one on the list, for help.

According to this article, it's been "toned down" but there's no option to turn it off -

If not, please let me know (and if you don't mind PMing me the website you were on), because the gift reminder is supposed to be totally removed from anyone's site at this point, and you should only see the above confirmation.

Thanks for the info, ladies. If this is toned down, I shudder to think what it was before. According to the link above you will only get reminders if you opt into reminders, which I did. Unfortunately the reminder I was sent was to purchase a gift. 

If I was a bride again, I would be horrified that my guests opted into a wedding reminder and were sent a gift purchase reminder. HORRIFIED. I will not be recommending TK any longer.
