You should have looked at his entire portfolio before picking a photographer. Oh, and reviews also help.

I have several friends who are professional photographers and have extensive portfolios and great reviews. You'll get little sympathy from me. Sorry.

I've read all of your cross posts and at this point, I'm with @thefanciestbeckler that this sounds like a lack of planning and research. 

Did you not provide your photographer with a timeline for your day, did you not discuss what shots are important to you, did you not discuss style or locations or hours present or timeline and expectations?  It seems to me, as a professional who works with digital images you would have been very picky and detailed in what you wanted. 

I'm glad you finally got all of your photos back. Do you know if FBIL has a more expensive photograph package scheduled than yours?  I only ask because his focus on him not only during the day but in the process after is just damn creepy!

Lurkers...this is why so many people oppose unplugged weddings. Thankfully OP didn't and had other photos to fall back on.

OP, I need a little more information. If all the things @kimmiinthemitten listed WERE done in advance, why didn't you just reference the timeline, locations, and important shots that you came up with ahead of time? Did you do that and he ignored you?

Lurkers, make a shot list and a timeline (for participants and vendors since your MOH had to be told to get dressed). Personally I tell brides to use first names ("Tiffany, Ed, Jane, Jeff, Nicky Halie" instead of "Bride, groom, siblings and siblings spouses")

What does your contract say?  If it doesn't specify if he has to retouch, then maybe he only did the ones of your BIL as a form of promoting his business.  But I'm not sure what recourse you'd have if it doesn't spell out the post-processing of the photos.

Anyway.. no shots of DH and his parents.. just one shot of me. Anyway I requested all photos and he told me he wouldn't release those because ppl looking away or blurry or whatever. Anyway I informed him I Just found out from DH his brother had called him with news that he received the photo and video link. WHAT WHAT WHAT .. DH told him to only send to US!!!!! Now I have to have DH brother removed from intro.. because my parents asked us why was it 20 seconds of them before u see my DH and me or anyone else?? Anyway.. so I get all teh shots FINALLY and i'm looking through. All close ups of me were in black and white and he had from what it looked like retouched 1 images. .. apparently that must have taken time because he decided to nix that idea and just go b/w with no retouch. I LOOK AWFUL. In every photo i'm sweaty, bags under eyes, no retouch. He retouched DH brother. He didn't retouch anyone else. What do I do???? DH brother plans to hire him for his wedding. I'm afraid I might jump on the photographer if i see him in person? Seriously DH mom took better shots than this IDIOT?? NO RETOUCH ON any of me or DH or us together or mom or dad or his mom and dad? HELP!??? What can I do at this point? 

btw.. when i spoke to photographer he told me it was my fault. He told me DH walked out of dressing room and was dressed so thats why he had no pics. He told me my matron had no pics cause she wasn't dressed until it was to late???She was with me all day and the photographer trying to keep my dress off the ground. He never told her to get dressed? He never told any of us what to do when? He just kept yelling at us and bullying?

Here is my updated on the photograph situation:

Well tonight DH and I went through all the originals we were finally able to get ahold of despite the photographers hesitation and telling me this is not what he does. There were some great shots of the family that I had missed. We got so emotional viewing the photos me and DH started to cry out of happiness. Anyway I don't know why the photographer would keep these pictures from us. He told us they were blurry and bad etc but when we reviewed most were great! He even had a shot of my MH doing her reading! YAY! Even if in a few pics there is a lil blur on one person many others in the shot were fine and the expressions were priceless! They captured the day. Some will need retouching particularly the close ups of me and my DH but overall we are just happy to have more to chose from. So not sure why the photographer pretended like there just weren't many others.. unless he didn't want to retouch them?

Do you think that is normal that the photographer bares no responsibility to look at the scene and move that. There is a scene where I have a cigarette box right by my side. Is it not his job to remove it when in the contract it states the shoots all "photo enhancement & photo editing?" We had asked DH brother how much his shoot was. His shoot was 5x less than ours. So to answer that question.. no he did not pay more. Our contract also said we would get all images.. why then did the photographer tell me oh many were blurry and people blinking and then when I pressed him to get the images.. they were great! I had some of my dad hugging me and crying that he was trying to act like didn't exist. Also, is it normal to only shoot 1 of each mom? He only shot 1 image of each mom and they were blown out from the light so they are both missing the left side of their face. Was I suppose to sit there and art direct him to shoot the mothers? The photographing of the moms was in the archways of the building. Is it normal to not shoot a few extra shots of each mother? I guess you all want to just blame me. Well I only wish those of you who are finger pointers receive the same treatment. The photographer told us that he had photographed everything and caught every moment which clearly wasn't true. Is it normal for the photographer to send your ladies images to your brother in law when it was specified it was to go to you and your DH ONLY? Really this is NORMAL? My dh thinks this man might be on drugs possibly. If you see his emails after the wedding he can't spell, seems confused, makes up stories that don't line up. Also, during the shoot me and DH went through all the images and there are 45 min's where NOTHING was shot. DH looked at the image of his mom and the next is me with my dad walking down the aisle. During that time I was trying to wipe my dress off and close up the back. The photographer wanted to shoot me earlier with my back unbuttoned he said it would be fine. Anyway.. 45 min's missing? Thoughts Please.

What exactly did you come here and post multiple times for?  You got shitty service, sat by and watched it happen without speaking out, and possibly had a contract violation.  You're 37 and a professional; figure it out!
