Asking for cash: SYTTD edition

I'm watching tonight's SYTTD and the woman says the theme is "lucky in love" and guests have to bring them a scratch off lottery ticket to get in. Eye roll.

Wonder who gets the job of turning people away if they don't bring a ticket.

That is a whole new level of tackiness. Damn. I do like scratch-offs just for fun, but making them a requirement is not cool. What if someone is a recovering gambler or has religious objections to gambling? Or just wants to spend money on something with a guaranteed reward?
  • Ugh, lottery tickets are lame when you get them for Christmas. Thanks for spending $10 for me to win $2 if I'm lucky
  • .....

Scratch-offs are fine. As a favor. Like, something you get for your guests, not something you demand for yourself.

If I was invited to this wedding, a scratch-off would be the only gift they got from me!
  • You do realize that SYTTD is wedding porn?

I totally eye rolled as soon as the bride said that to the consultant.  I laughed out loud, however, at the consultant's reaction to hearing that the theme of Jen's wedding was "craft beer".

I hope anyone in the role of "program passer" does not have double duty as "lottery ticket collector".
  • That episode was an ad for Martha Stewart's latest book. Arghhhh.

(I must disclose that I have feelings for SYTTD. An episode where two brides were obsessed with the princess theme, one to the extent that she even "talked to Princess Diana this morning," was playing on the TV across the room the morning that my mom died in the nursing home. She wasn't aware, but I knew she'd be laughing and making catty comments if she could.)
