How was your weekend? 

I left work early on Friday and drove down to Cape May to surprise my parents. I stalked my mom's location on my phone and found her shopping at TJ Maxx. I basically walked up to her and waited for her to notice that I was standing there, staring at her and she was SO SURPRISED! She cried, obviously, and just kept saying "I can't believe you're here!" 

We went to visit my dad which was really tough. He was in so much pain and I had to choke back the tears from seeing him like that. 

We left so he could try to sleep, and went for a pedicure, picked up Chinese for dinner, and watched a movie then went to bed. 

Saturday, I helped her get some stuff done around the house that my dad can't help with now and then we drove around checking out yard sales. I found a really nice salad bowl set for $9 so I was happy! 



We visited my dad at the hospital again in the afternoon and he was SO much better than Friday. The pain was manageable and he seemed to be in much better spirits. I ended up leaving right from there to drive home. H and I went out to dinner and then we watched Scream 2 because somehow he'd never seen it. 

Yesterday, I spent the whole day on the couch catching up on Grey's, Scandal, The Catch, and The Family. I did a little laundry and straightened up the kitchen and that was the extent of my productivity. 

Tonight someone (hopefully H) has to go food shopping and that's really it. H and I will walk Snoos, I'll make dinner, we'll eat, and then relax for a bit before bed.

@Swazzle Awww I bet you made your mom's whole day surprising her! I'm so sorry that your Dad is in pain. I'm glad to hear it got better throughout the weekend and I hope it continues to keep on getting better. I can't imagine seeing him not feeling well like that.

This weekend was busy but it was a lot of fun! Friday I got a lot done around the house before I picked up Callie. I deep cleaned her bathroom, did laundry, swept the kitchen, vacuumed the stairs, did some grocery shopping, took out my spring clothes, and shaved my legs lol. We had bad storms that night though so no one really slept well.

Saturday Callie and I went to the park for the day and she went on the swings for the first time. She LOVED them! She would giggle and smile. It was so cute. That night my mom came by and we went out to Mexican for dinner. Callie slept hard that night after such a busy day.

Sunday we went to my parent's house for my little sister's bday celebration. Callie was showing off her skills but pulling up on everything. We had a fun day but we were all so tired from the weekend. DH got home yesterday afternoon so I was excited to see him since he had been gone since Friday morning.

Tonight I plan to workout and I have leftovers planned for dinner. Nothing too exciting...We will finish watching GOT since we both fell asleep during it last night during the premiere.

@southernpeach89 sounds like a great weekend! Do you have photos of Callie on the swings?

My weekend was.. amazing. H was out of town, so Friday I made dinner for myself and relaxed. Saturday I got up and did my 9 mile run - it started pouring at like, mile 5 but it wasn't too cold so I survived. Then I went grocery shopping, prepared a new homemade ice cream recipe, did some reading and took a bath with some muscle relief bath salt I found.. It seemed to help. Then I watched Scandal, so much Scandal.

Sunday was a little bit more of the same... 5 mile run, laundry, cleaned out my entire closet, lots of Scandal, and I made cookies for tonight. The only disappointment of the day was my ice cream didn't churn correctly! The batter tastes sooo good and I'm so bummed that it didn't work out. I might try it again soon to see where I went wrong.

Tonight after work we're having a dept. get-together - we're all going over to our VP's house to homebrew and eat pizza. It should be fun, but it's going to be a loooong day.

@southernpeach89 omg that hat! So cute. It looks like it was such a nice day out.

I tried a salted butter caramel ice cream recipe.. It involved melting down sugar to create caramel and then continuing on to make ice cream as you normally would. I also melted down caramel and hardended it and then shattered it to mix into the final product so there would be more caramel flavor... I'm so bummed it didn't work out.

I will read later (in a hurry to get ready and teach), but it's my anniversary! We're doing traditional gifts, so paper for the first year - I got H a coffee table book on the history of the Chevy Camaro, and he got me three Harry-Potter themed coloring books and pre-ordered Cursed Child. We will go out to dinner tonight, eat a bit of our probably horrendously freezer-burned cake, and then eat the good cake and drink the champagne we got at our wedding last year and couldn't drink because I was already fairly smashed.

My weekend was busy. Yesterday was crap. Passover started Saturday and every person in town is either acting like everything is an inconvenience to them OR they are expecting special treatment. Sundays are currently my busiest day at work and the last half hour that we were opened was a shit show. I got home, gave Coraline a bath so she will be all set for our drive tomorrow night, and went to bed early. Then, I woke up at 3am to EXTREMELY LOUD SNORING. It was not my roommate. It was my upstairs neighbor. Or someone, who was sleeping in the bedroom directly above mine. I could not fall back asleep for a couple hours. Now, I'm up and ready for the day.

I started my day off great... I lost 1.8 lbs this week! Very surprising to me, I've been so busy with work and school I have been putting my dieting to the side. Apparently my new habits have stuck because I am still seeing results  

Today, I have to clean my bathroom and bedroom, do the last bit of laundry, finish packing up, clean out my car, AND work tonight.... It's going to be a very long day.

@swazzle that's so funny that you surprised her in the store instead of just going to her house, nicely done! Sorry to hear your dad is in so much pain, that would be so hard for me. When I was little my dad had back surgery and when we went to the hospital I literally took one look at him and threw up on the floor.

I'm pissy about my hair appointment on Saturday. I usually never dye my hair but a few months ago I decided what the hell. So I went to a good friend of a good friend, and her post of my hair got picked up by some stylist page and went semi-viral with 10k likes & shares. Here was that pic.

Well I was annoyed because everyone kept commenting on her page about how much they wanted it....and I was like um I want that too...that's MY hair and it doesn't even look like that! The red faded out instantly, literally within a week it was gone (and I only wash hair 2x week!). The blonde never looked that bright, even in direct sunlight. She totally filtered it bright or something.

So I just brushed it off like whatever, I won't go back to her, it wasn't worth the cost when I can go somewhere much cheaper. She saw my picture on FB and messaged me asking if I didn't like my hair, and if I had dyed it all back to dark brown with somebody else. I said UM NO- whatever you did just faded out and was gone instantly. And she said oh I'm so sorry, that shouldn't have happened, why don't you come back and I'll do it again  half price. So I agreed. Saturday she did my hair......and then charged me full price! I know I could/should have said something but I felt very uncomfortable and embarrassed asking for a discount in front of other customers and stylists, like that's awkward. So I just paid it and left. But I'm like you bitch, I'm totally not coming back to you. And since it's a friend of a friend I'm not going to call her out or complain to the salon, I'm just going to never come back. So this is what it looks like right now for full price....again nothing like the original picture.

@jenna8984 OMG I would be furious! I know that's an awkward situation too since it's a friend of a friend but I would still tell her that it wasn't what you were looking for because as a stylist she needs to know that what she did wasn't up to your satisfaction as a customer. I can't believe she charged you full price either.

Morning everybody!

I had a fairly uneventful weekend...Saturday morning got up and went to yoga, then graded papers for a while and came home and cleaned the apartment.  Yesterday I got up, ran, went to Mass, and came home and did more work and meal prep for the week.  I'm still working my way through my Easter ham, so I made these mini ham and cheese frittatas and this cauliflower and ham hash.  I haven't tried the hash yet, since I portioned it out for dinners this week, but I had one of the frittatas with breakfast and it was delicious.

Today I'm working most of the day, but I'm feeling pretty fabulous...got a soy latte from Starbucks on my way in to work, and I'm wearing pink shoes.

Oh, and Monday is my "official" weigh-in day (I weight myself other days, but I only record it on Mondays), and today this happened:



According to I Lost What, that's a bald eagle!!!  I had been hovering right around 10 pounds lost for the last couple of weeks, but I crossed the threshold.  This is about halfway to where I want to be.

Good morning. What a weekend! Friday was date night so H and I went downtown for Mexican food. We sat outside on the Riverwalk since it was so pretty out, but the birds really wanted our food! Then we went to see the new Huntsman movie which I loved. Charlize is kind of a badass.
Saturday we woke up and headed to Austin. We met H's brother and walked around the park and the mall which was fun, but I ended up with major blisters since I wore the wrong shoes. Oops. But, I found the perfect clutch for my cousin's wedding next month and bonus, it was only $7! -- (the one I bought is white to contrast the navy lace dress I'm wearing).


After a long day H and I went out for dinner. You guys, the wait was 2 HOURS. But we hung out outside, drank a margarita, and watched the sunset so it wasn't too bad.

Sunday we had brunch, then headed back to go grocery shopping, do laundry, and relax. It was a fun weekend but went by so fast. Looking forward to Friday again already and I plan on mailing my NEY surprise gift this week!

@swazzle - I hope your dad continues to feel better. I know that was hard for you to see him like that, but I know it must mean so much to your parents to have had you there. I love the way you surprised your mom!
@southernpeach89 - I can just imagine Callie having fun on the swings - how cute!!
@PamBeesly524 - Your weekends are so productive! My greatest accomplishment most weekends is if I can make myself go grocery shopping without complaining!

@jenna8984 - Damn girl! Highlights or not, you have some gorgeous hair! You definitely should have said something to her. Actually, I think you should tell her you want a gift card in the amount of 50% to her salon, since that's what she offered you. And then use it on products instead of services.

Friday I started on my first round of IVF medications. Saturday morning I woke up with a headache and I was EXHAUSTED, so I ended up not running. H and I ran a couple errands, then I decided I wanted to go the casino. It was fun, but I lost all the money I brought, so it was a bit of a fail. Oh well.

Sunday I ran to Crossfit, then did the WOD. I was going to run home (2.7 more miles) but again, I was beat, so I got a ride home from one of the other people. Looks like I won't have any long runs before my half marathon. Oh well on that, too. Then H and I went to Kohl's and bought new pots and pans. I can't wait to use them! We went to dinner at a pizza place a block and a half from our house. It's hit or miss, and this time it was a miss. So disappointing.

I slept in today so I'll be s little rushed today for time but I didn't sleep well until like 2 am so it's worth it. This weekend I organized Ani's clothes drawers, and closet, and H and I did house chores mostly. We grilled even though it was freaking freezing out and Raj got some grilled chicken so he was a happy boy.

Tonight we have a birthing class again...think we are watching a birthing video so that should be interesting.

@jenna8984 I would have shown her the message she said where she said she'd give it to you half off.  I would have been furious over the price and not getting what I expected.  At least the cut looks awesome, and it isn't a bad color! Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought it was bad to dye your hair while pregnant because the extra hormones mess with everything?  I'm just wondering if maybe that was why the hair didn't dye correctly this time.

I spent most of the weekend working out, cleaning, and snuggling with Calla.  We're having really bad forest fires so our outdoor time was limited to the backyard since all the hiking trails were closed.

Saturday my mom, sister, and I went to our church for purse bingo.  There were so many pretty purses, but unfortunately none of us won anything.  It was still fun, and because it was so loud, Emmy was moving around a ton.  My sister did start having some contractions, but not labor contractions (and she's still pregnant, looks like she'll be induced this weekend).  After bingo I met up with a bunch of girlfriends for margaritas and burgers. Everyone was really whiny, so we were only out for an hour.  I was kind of annoyed that I drove a half hour for that, so I went back to my best friend's house.  She was annoyed with the others as well, so we drank wine and I got to snuggle with my nieces. I woke up Sunday to a ton of toddler selfies on my phone.

@minskat30 AW that's so sweet! When we watched the birthing video in our class that was the first time DH had seen one and he said that he didn't think it was as gross as he thought it was going to be. I was like well...you never know haha.

Weekend was decent.
Friday didn't do much. Saturday I woke up with a headache, which I had to get rid of before the concert. Basically I alternated between downing water, napping, and eating. Meds weren't helping much, so I was irked.

It did fade out for the most part and I definitely enjoyed the concert. We had 2 options, side stage (which was closer and a little pricier) or dead center but far back.
We opted for the side stage portion and ended up being 3 rows from stage! Omg! It was so great to be so close.
We opted to be late because neither of us were Fransico Yates fans (i only know one song tbh) but I was excited for Carly Rae Jepsen, despite she didn't have the greatest stage presence.

Main show was Hedley and Jacob Hoggard is such a high energy personality. It was weird to see a concert where he didn't take off his clothes lmfao
They didn't do a huge amount of songs from newest album, but tbh I think they played all my faves for the most part.

They did a bit of nostalgia just before playing album 1 songs, talking about how when they first played our city was in a small bar downtown and I remember being under age for it, but trying to find a way to get in lmao



Sunday my mum and I went shopping. Obv I found nothing .... but it's good to look around for stuff when we buy a house.
Ended up chilling at my mum's for dinner.

Tonight is just laundry {again} and dishes.

@PamBeesly524 Ugh...I'm so sorry your ice cream batter didn't come together. That recipe SOUNDS super yummy.

My weekend was sooooooooooo busy and I am exhausted!!! Long story short, our contractor didn't finish up on Friday so he left us his tile cutter over the weekend and we basically spent nearly the ENTIRE weekend cutting and laying tiles. And let me tell you....it is really really hard work.

Things we got accomplished:
Friday - Grouted the floor and part of the shower, the floor is 100% complete!
Saturday - Took all of the construction trash to the dump, waterproofed and put up more tile in the shower and cut a ton of tile for the bath surround. Spent MORE money at Lowe's.
Sunday - Put more tile up in the shower, shower is now about 80% done I think. Put up tile on the bath surround but didn't get very far because H screwed up some cuts.

Luckily our contractor is coming back tomorrow to hopefully finish the job. We'll be in serious trouble if we still have tiles that need to be cut by the end of the day tomorrow. So H and I plan on continuing to work on getting as much tile work done as we can tonight in order to have us in a good place for job completion on Tuesday. I am so so so freaking tired and I can't wait to be done!

@misskittydanger it's my area code (for phone numbers). I got it when I was young, supposed to stand for loving the area and being proud to be from here. But as I've gotten older I really hate it because it's embarrassing when I'm around top execs at work. So after I have the baby I'll be covering it up with something that incorporates his name!

@labro ugh cutting tile was probably the worst part about our bathroom remodel.  I'm glad he left you guys his saw so you didn't have to wait any longer though! I have a whole collection of toddler selfies, just wait till Callie starts taking your phone.  They're the blurriest, but best pictures!
