Glen Cove Mansion?

Hi everyone! I'm considering Glenn Cove Mansion for my ceremony and reception.  Has anyone had any experience with them, any thoughts?  They have beautiful grounds, but I found mixed reviews about their service.  I'd appreciate any comments!

It is beautiful but the service is...bad.  A friend of mine is getting married in August and is expecting 600 people (large indian wedding).  Their wedding planner just found out that Glen Cove has failed to get the proper permits for noise from the town/neighborhood.  Glen Cove promised they would get them saying "they do this all the time".  Of course right?  Well now they need to find a new venue.  Like I said, wedding in August (this August!!), for 600 people.  I've heard other stories about them from my brother who used to work there, but I wont share because they aren't wedding related per se.

I've been to a wedding there and it is gorgeous!  But if the reviews on the service is bad, that would make me nervous.  Have you looked at DeSeversky, it has the same feel and the food is really good!  (I have been to a lot of weddings in the last few years, so I have been to both places!)

Can you elaborate on de Seversky? I'm looking into it for July 2011. Unfortunately the first tasting they offer is in August and I'm nervous about waiting so long. Food was good? Also, any opinion on their "European Style" wedding? It's a dinner first followed by dancing in a separate room....Any thoughts would be appreciated!!!

Hi!  I JUST got married at the De Seversky Mansion September 19, 2010....I'm not kidding when I tell you that I loved EVERYTHING about the mansion.  The food was insanely delicious - i can't  tell you how many of our guests raved about the food - don't worry about waiting for the tasting, I booked the mansion before my 1st tasting.  Don't even think twice about the food seriously - it's better than EVERY tasting we attended, and the day of the wedding was even better!  We did the traditional style wedding where dinner was served in the ballroom since there were a good number of elderly guests who we didn't want to force moving around the mansion so much....BUT we heard wonerful things about the Eurpoean Mansion style also. The biggest appetizer station hit was the Gold Coast station that had shrimp, mussles, clams and lobster - and the prime rib and chilean sea bass was the dinner hit.

Contact Eric Redlich at the mansion - he will guide you in the right direction as far as what style of wedding is right for you and your guests.  The beauty of the mansion is that you can really make it your own, and with one wedding at a time, the service is unparalleled.  Also, we just got our wedding pictures back...and wow...the mansion is simply gorgeous (Brett Matthews Photography is amazing as well).  Check it out....
