@LizzyTish88 Loose shorts are the best! I always feel like shorts fit me the worst out of everything and when they start to feel loose it makes me feel really great!

@southernpeach89 I'm so so in love with all of your Callie photos this weekend. I can't believe she is standing on her own already! Why do you have so much piling up on your to do list? Maybe we can have a sister day and do stuff together.

@PamBeesly524 I get car sick too. It used to be even worse when I was on hormonal BC but I feel like it's improved slightly after switching to the Paragard IUD. I generally do ok as long as I don't stare at my phone too much and as long as the driver isn't weaving or making hairpin turns. Used to be I just got sick just being in the car so I'm grateful for this much at least!

This weekend started out pretty wonderful and ended on a somewhat scary note.

Friday we had the bbq at my parent's house with H and my ILs and @southernpeach89 and her little family. It was so nice to have everyone together and it really makes me appreciate that I have two wonderful sets of parents.

Saturday was probably the best day all week. The ILs and H and I got in the car in spite of the off and on rain and hit up a ton of garage sales and we found this incredibly cool warehouse junkstore type space that is run by a little old man. He had such great deals on everything and I think I'll go back next week to take a second look at some things. I also found a first birthday present for my Callie girl at one of the garage sales and I am SO FREAKING EXCITED to give it to her in just a few more months...I don't know how I'm going to manage keeping it a surprise but I guess I'll have to just suck it up. Later that day we all went to Home Depot and H's parents bought us rocking chairs for the front porch!!! I can't believe we've been in this house 3 years without furniture on the front porch. I'm so in love with them and now I'm in a total decorating mood to make the whole thing look super cute. I definitely want to add a small table and maybe some sort of baker's rack that's been converted into a potting/garden rack.

Sunday H's parents left early and we spent the rest of the day catching up on yard work. Around noon Cinders started acting weird and kind of clingy and after awhile H and I both noticed that one side of her muzzle was HUGELY swollen. When we investigated we could see two small holes right under her nose and one was oozing blood. We definitely thought she had been hit by some sort of hornet and the severe swelling was maybe because of the stinger still being stuck. She was obviously in a lot of pain and when the swelling didn't go down after we have her Benadryl I took her to the vet. I'm so so thankful we have a normal vet's office nearby that's open on Sundays. They shot her up with some steroids and a little more anti-histamine but her swelling still wouldn't go down. Her neck had also started to swell and she was somewhat laboring to breath. The vet asked to keep her for the rest of the day to try some more steroids and some sort of laser treatment (it sounded like snake oil to me but it was only $15 and I decided I'd go with whatever it took). While she was at the vet I helped H finish up in the yard and worried about Cinders the entire time. H and I and the vet all separately came to the conclusion that she was probably bitten by a small snake and not stung by a bee. We've seen small copperheads in our yard in the past, just not this year. And Cinders was probably sniffing around and surprised one. I'm just so so incredibly thankful that she was doing better when I picked her up (although still swollen and in some pain). She's got more steroids and antihistamines to take for the next few days but you can definitely see an improvement today. Hopefully her swelling continues to go down and everything is ok. Her attitude is WAY more normal too. It was so obvious yesterday that she was in pain and miserable and not feeling well but this morning she was her typical happy little self, just with a funny looking face and throat.  We're almost out of the first 24 hours too so I think she's going to be ok but we definitely appreciate any puppy vibes!!

@futuremrshistorian - Nope, thank you.  I need some tough love to get through this week.  I'm feeling sorry for myself and that won't help get through it.  

@cocobellaf - Ugh, you are right.  I CAN do this.  I WILL do this.  I've got a little more left in the tank...just have to buckle down.

@twodimes - You'll have it in the bag when you get KU.    Today will get better.  Just have to take this one (hobbling...lol) step at a time.  Honestly, I feel like if anyone should be embarrassed it is he who shall not be named that I ran into in the elevator.  Why does a 9 month pregnant bleeding and uncomfortable woman have to be in the office working a 10-12 hour day?  What is wrong with this country?

@labro OMG I can't wait to see what you got Callie lol. I'm so sorry about Cinders, that's terrifying! I hope she continues to improve. It's just a lot of little things...nothing that will take more than a day but it's annoying that the list keeps getting longer.

@labro - I'm so glad Cinders seems to be doing well.  We lost a dog a few years ago to a rattlesnake bite.  He had been bitten twice.  But he never rallied like Cinders is, so I think she will be just fine!

@CocoBellaF Honestly I think we would have lost her to a rattlesnake bite just like your dog. Everything I've read said that rattlesnake bites are the most likely to be fatal of any snake bite out there. Copperhead bites on the other hand tend to be more treatable depending on the amount of venom and thankfully for Cinders it seemed to be a small, not incredibly deep bite.

@minskat30 you are a superwoman to be dealing with all of this right now. You are absolutely right that that person should be ashamed of themselves, and not you. Unfortunately it's the reality of the world we live in right now, and especially those companies seem to not care much about employee health. This is from someone who worked at a similar company and watched a coworker die due to stress related complications and not having enough time to go get checked out by a doctor. It's sad and unfortunate, but trying to keep up with corporate America while maintaining your health (and the health of your child too) does not mean you are a hot mess, or any type of mess. It makes you human, and your health should come first. ETA: a final thought: No job is worth compromising that for.

@labro You are so lucky to have amazing parents AND in-laws! Poor cinders, I can't imagine just being scared not knowing what's going on. I'm so glad the meds worked and she's getting better. She's going to need all the treats this week.

@minskat30 The one in the wrong there is the butthead in the elevator! It's ridiculous that you, or any women, have to work 10-12 hour days that late in pregnancy. Companies don't give a shit about their employees health, they only seem to care about $$$. The greed in this country sickens me. You are a total badass and you will rock this day and this week!

My morning started out with a meeting followed by a not-a-drill fire alarm. We were only outside for about 20 minutes though, so I have no idea what even happened. I'll confess, when the alarm went off I ran straight to the bathroom because my bladder was about to burst and there's no way I was going to be able to hold it for an extended time outside. 

I had a good weekend. Saturday the weather forecast was crap, but we still went to the animal shelter fundraiser since we had gotten tickets that gave us tent access. BF borrowed his roommate's dog for the occasion. His roommate pretty much never takes her out, so BF tries to take her out to socialize with other dogs, but since she doesn't get out much she gets very anxious. The poor thing was so stressed out at times throughout the event, especially when other dogs were around. She wanted to meet them all, but would get way submissive and her body language was a combination of submission and fear. I kept telling bf to bring her back and keep the leash short because she did best when we were right next to her. It kept randomly pouring rain and the whole area was incredibly muddy, but we still had a good time. 

Sunday I relaxed. The landscaping guy came by to do some measurements and I should have a quote this week on how much fixing my yard drainage issues and putting in a patio will run me. I am nervous it will cost way more than expected!

I finished my friend's dissertation Friday night! She has a good idea for new pedagogical methods in music, but musicians are ... somewhat stubborn (there's a reason musical notation is still in Italian), so I'm not sure it will catch on. It was a fascinating read, though.

Otherwise Saturday and Sunday were unproductive. Sunday a big thunderstorm and microburst rolled through town. We weren't near the main part of the storm, but there might be a couple shingles up on the roof, so H is going up over the lunch hour to check it out. Vibes for no roof damage!

Hello ladies! It's only 12:30 and I've already had 4 meetings and a billion people stopping by my desk. They need to leave me alone!

My weekend was pretty nice. My little sister and her BF came down from Seattle on Saturday. My sister and I went to go see Annie on stage, and it was SO FUN. We brought home pizza for dinner and went out to play pool later. Sunday morning we went out for breakfast and then they left so BF and I had the rest of the day to clean and get him all prepped for his trip.

I dropped him off at the airport this morning. He should be in Bahrain about when I get to work tomorrow. It's going to be so lonely without him! I'd die of boredom if it weren't for the dog.

Our BBQ with all of our friends is this Saturday, so instead of stressing myself out on Friday night and Saturday morning, I've divided up all the tasks between the days this week and made a little chore schedule. That should give me some stuff to do, and the house and yard should be looking AWESOME by the end.

Two of my friends has babies today! Kind of weird, since they had almost identical due dates- 2 weeks from now! Baby Ian and baby Gabbrielle. (couldn't talk her out of that extra B lol) Yaaay can't wait to see them!
