Annoyed - Hair ideas

Is anyone else annoyed by the lack of short wedding hair style ideas?  Is it some kind of conspiracy?

Ya know not all brides have long, flowing locks for updos, nor do they want them. Ugh!

That annoys me a bit too. I have short hair, and my FW has chin-length hair. She's going to be wearing my Mom's Juliet cap veil, so you won't see much of her hair during the ceremony anyway, but she'll probably want to take the veil off for the reception. 

To top it off, her hair is fine and poker-straight, and mine is super-thick and just barely wavy.

If I see anything good, I'll post it.

Well, it's kind of the breaks when you choose to wear your hair short, no?

My sister wears her hair short.   She might add a hairband or barrette, but that is about all she can do as far as styles.    For her wedding she did grow it out a little (bob length) and did a half-up/half down thing with a veil.  Then she cut her hair again.  ::shrugs:: 

I, on the other hand, have long hair. On any given day I can pull it back in a pony tail, braid, french twist, bun, leave it long, half-up/half-down.   Options are almost limitless.   I ended up doing a simple half-up/half-down look and didn't wear a veil.   Only a couple of Swarovski hair pins (which you could use with short hair if you wanted).

This. It's not that no one can be bothered to do short wedding hairstyles, it's that there aren't many options with hairstyles in general (not just wedding) for short hair.

Are you going to wear a veil or headpiece, OP?

There is an advantage to short hair: if you wear a fancy hair ornament (like a barrette or tiara, or the hairpins @lyndausvi mentioned), it will stand out more than if you had longer hair. You can also get away with bigger earrings and maybe a statement necklace, depending on your dress style.

That's the route I'm going. I'm wearing a silver suit with a dark blue blouse and a locket and earrings that my grandmother gave me. 

ETA: I'm wearing a fascinator. Those are great for short hair if you're not planning to wear a veil.

Even I was frustrated with short hairs, but my hairstylist gave me an amazing look for my beautiful long island wedding. I would love to share a picture.

I have short curly hair and ended up settling on a headband with a little veil attached. I finally found the perfect headpiece and it worked so well with my hair, but I couldn't do anything besides try and tame the curls. It kind of comes with the short hair territory. It's worth it, personally.

Two words: Finger curls. Maybe I just love vintage styles, but I think that short hair styles with finger curls look super classy and sexy as hell.

If I let FW's stylist do my hair instead of doing my own, I'm definitely getting finger curls.

Hey OP, my mother also has very short hair, but wanted it to look special at my wedding. She just spoke to the hair stylist and they managed just fine. Here is a photo.



Are you hiring a hair stylist? You may also want to talk to your regular stylist for ideas.
