NWR - Upbeat Playlist

I'm creating a playlist of happy music to help me get out of the funk I've been in. So far I have "Up and Up" by Coldplay, "Ain't No Man" by the Avett Brothers, and "Off the Ground" by the Record Company.

Except for religious music, I'm open to any era and genre. And . . . GO!

Re: NWR - Upbeat Playlist

  • Andy Grammer "Honey I'm good"; Fun. "Carry On"; Vampire Weekend ("Diane Young", "Cape Code Kwassa Kwassa", "Oxford Comma"), Paul Simon ("Graceland", "I know what I know", "You can call me Al"-- seriosuly the whole Graceland album), Lady Gaga, "Born this way".

Also, since you said "funk", you have to have "Uptown Funk".

Ill try to think of more, but these are my go-tos.

  • Great suggestions -- keep them coming!
  • I really love Dierks Bentley "Somewhere on a Beach," although I wouldn't necessarily call it "upbeat."  It just makes me super happy (especially the video).

Walk the Moon "Shut up and Dance."
Katie Herzig "Hey Na Na."  (I put this one on repeat whenever I feel blue)
FantomenK "Getting Melodies Out of My Head" (because of this video)

Sadly, that's all I've got right now.

  • For "Up", I immediately thought of Up Up Up by Givers  :-)

Here are some other (old and new) tunes that I've enjoyed lately:

Valerie by Mark Ronson and Amy Winehouse
100 Yard Dash by Raphael Saadiq
    25 Miles by Edwin Starr
Side Pony by Lake Street Dive
Hey Now by Matt & Kim
Let's Go by Matt & Kim
    Love Generation by Bob Sinclar
Something Good Can Work by Two Door Cinema Club
Handclap by Fitz and the Tantrums
Beta Love by Ra Ra Riot
    My Type by St Motel

I rely on music alot to up my mood :-)

  • It's a work in progress, but here's what I have so far:

  • I thought of a few more of my favorite go-tos.

    "Holy" Florida Georgia Line
"Die a Happy Man," Thomas Rhett
(I don't like country much, as a general rule, but I love the songs that make me think of H and how happy he makes me)

"Let's Go Sunning" (I actually don't know who sang this song, but it was written by Jack Shaindlin and I discovered it in my infinite nerd-dom from Fallout 3, and I think it's on the game soundtrack)

    "Fireflies" Owl City
    "Shooting Star" Owl City
"Cave In" Owl City (he is a seriously happy dude)
    "Animal" Neon Trees
    "Good Intentions" Mad Caddies
"She Has a Girlfriend Now" Reel Big Fish
"Fat Bottomed Girls" Queen (I can't not giggle when I hear this song)
"Good Old Fashioned Lover Boy" Queen
    "Planetary (Go!)" My Chemical Romance
    "Ragoo" Kings of Leon
"Here it Goes Again" OK Go
"Last of the Wilds" Nightwish (if you don't mind instrumentals)
"Still Alive" (from Portal--another high quality nerd moment... )
    "Lake Pontchartrain" Ludo
    "Love Me Dead" Ludo
    "Tonight You're Perfect" New Politics

"And when they use our atoms to make new lives, they won’t just be able to take one, they’ll have to take two, one of you and one of me..."

  • Some of the songs on my "Happy, Upbeat" playlist are:

Walkin' on Sunshine - Katrina & the Waves
Jump in the Line - Harry Belafonte (you may recognize it from Beetlejuice)
Do Wah Diddy Diddy - Manfred Mann
Say Hey I Love You - Michael Franti and Spearhead
The Contradiction  - Celtic Woman (instrumental but so energetic)

I also recommend almost anything by Eliza Doolittle, especially Pack Up, Big When I Was Little and Skinny Genes
"Marriage is so disruptive to one's social circle." - Mr. Woodhouse
